Be so boring? It’s ridiculous what NASCAR has done to the sport. I know old news, it’s probably exciting for the drivers and crew, otherwise it’s like watching grass grow. I did a little checking, Bill Elliot hit 212 mph in 1988 at Talladaga. The fastest average speed for the 500 was set in 1980 by Buddy Baker @ 177.xxx. If not for the wrecks there wouldn’t be anything to see until the final lap and a winner determined.

They have learned how to make the tracks safer and the cars safer. Now it’s time to loosen up the rules for horsepower and see what the boys can come up with.

Yup, need the Biden administration to randomly shoot them cars off the track.

"Car 32 trying to pass car 57 on the inside at turn 2 and IT'S A MISSILE STRIKE! 32 IS BLOWN OFF THE TRACK. Driver ejects!"

Daytona or Talledega It's ALWAYS the last couple laps. And I agree nascar has taken something I used to be interested in and screwed it up BIGTIME!  tickedoff Stages and phantom yellows have ruined what used to be racing.  Lips Sealed And appears to me the France family no care. RIDE SAFE.

A long time ago I said running a race with a restrictor plate is like shoving a cork up one side of the nostril of a thoroughbred race horse on the day of the big race.

I used to be heavily involved in racing. I worked on several race teams, including NASCAR Modifieds and the NASCAR Grand National North / Busch North series rides. I went to Florida every February for Speedweek, where we raced at New Smyrna and/or Volusia County Speedway, then caught the races at Daytona. Went to NH, Martinsville, Richmond, and Dover regularly. I honestly couldn't even pinpoint what happened, but they lost me somewhere. I watched today, mostly because I am laid up from my get-off, but had a tough time staying engaged. I am acquainted with Ryan Preece and Joey Logano, but still have a tough time giving a crap.

The most interesting thing to come out of NASCAR in recent times is "Let's  go Brandon."

There are so few cars out there now to choose from. The early days used sedans, now they’re running pony cars. Gone are the days of win on Sunday, sell on Monday. It’s all woke and politically correct and geared to who knows what. Gone are the days of Winston Cup because heaven forbid there are tobacco ads.

You know, if they are going to turn it into a demolition derby, they should just make it a figure 8! It didn’t happen often, but I remember races where Dale Earnhardt seemed to be able to put his car wherever it needed to be and at times could just charge to the front seemingly passing cars at will. Some drivers from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s could do the same.

In some venues, they have nostalgia racing, and if the cars aren’t mega millions$$ examples they actually get after it. I would love to see the old Big Block, mostly stock bodied, cars of the sixties, even if replicas, have their own racing series. I think it would be epic.

In some ways very similar to the big trucks I used to drive. The trucks were geared to cut off at 62  63 64 or 65 M P H but insurance was/is involved in that. Those cars at Daytona are hammer down W F O all race long. The Only move left to them is the slingshot from the draft. You saw that when Kyle in the 8 took the lead BUT a longer faster draft cost him LARGE. YUPPERS I do recall that 3 car doin chit that looked near impossible. Dale Sr. I M O was a lot of fun to watch on the race track.
I have a clay track I used to attend just South of West Plains off US 63. I M C A is the governing body.  I've seen the 25 lap final for those I M C A modifieds do 2 laps of racing and then 3 or 4 laps under yellow and do that far too many times. And I am 40 minutes from home and generally go to Church on Sunday and have left before the final was over so as not to miss too much sleep and the needed shower after a couple hours at a dirt track!  2funny
Seems to me that was once interesting to watch IS now leaning towards boring. I do like nascar on a road course though. Still resembles racing on the road course. RIDE SAFE.

I was visiting my brother in Georgia and we went to lunch Sunday at a local pub/sports bar/restaurant.

We had to ask to put the race on one of the 20+ flat screens.

Golf seemed to be more interesting to the crowd.
