What famous movie stars or music icons have you run into in the crowd accidently?
Lyle Lovette lives in my area and he is a big motorcycle buff. As a teenager he used to work at a local BMW motorcycle shop. After famous He came there often to hang out and I would see him there. Then back in the '80s I ran into him in Wimberely Texas at a restaurant. He was with a bunch of motorcyclists riding the windy twisty roads in the area. When on his bike he is just one of the guys.

In college, I met Jane Fonda, and Shirley Maclaine doing their liberal speaking shtick. I didn't run to meet them, they spoke in my dorm lobby (and as a RA, resident advisor, I was required to be there). Vietnam bad. They weren't completely wrong, but mostly. They spoke down to the students and were not very friendly. Fonda worse than Maclaine. I have rarely admitted this.
Also at university I met James Earl Jones who was speaking at the drama department (not political), and my roomie was a drama major. Jones was/is a very likeable man and very down to earth, and a wonderful speaker.
I met Harry Morgan (Dragnet's Sgt Friday's sidekick, and MASH's Col Potter) at the wedding of his niece to my drama roomie now in in Los Angeles (I was best man). The bachelor party was at the home of another Morgan relative who was a sitting District Court judge, and almost none of what went on there was legal. The stripper who performed at the party had appeared in Penthouse and she was magnificent. Her name escapes me, but not the memories.
I also met the last active duty Air Force member who won the Medal of Honor (Huey pilot in 'Nam), Col. James Fleming (at that time, around 1989).

Famous would require a wide public knowledge of the person. The only folks I ever met that was publicly acknowledged are all on staff for VRCC. Well, there may have been a few with the pictures in the Post Office. Rams

met actor Mitchell Ryan while walking down the main street in Waikiki. died heart attack last yr at 88. he was in many movies and TV shows. once u see him u will recognize him. (January 11, 1934 – March 4, 2022) was an American film, television, and stage actor, who in his six decades of television is known for playing Burke Devlin in the 1960s gothic soap opera Dark Shadows, and later for his co-starring role as Thomas Gibson's father Edward Montgomery on Dharma & Greg. He also played the villainous General Peter McAllister in the 1987 buddy cop action film Lethal Weapon. While talking to him he told me he was a marine, wiki states he was in the navy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitchell_Ryan

I backed into McLean Stevenson at a party once. Probably stepped on his shoes. Nice guy, took it in stride. Met Mel Fisher (went to a friend's wedding reception on Mel's boat). Met Kenny Rodger's mother - when we first moved to Winston-Salem we went on a tour of Reynold's Tobacco and she was in our group of 4. I don't know if this counts, but when my mother was a school teacher in Arkansas, she had Johnny Cash's sister in one of her classes. Mom said she didn't teach Johnny Cash, but she knew him - said he was a trouble maker. Joe Cocker (at the first VOA rally in Montrose see below). DDT and Hotglue and many others. -RP

Oss recounting meeting Muddy Waters reminded me I met B.B. King decades ago after a guitar seminar at the local college. He mostly talked about his life and career, but did have Lucille with him and picked her up several times to demonstrate technique.

In 1970 I was working in Washington DC in the records division of the FBI. I was waiting to get on the elevator to go to the fourth floor and when the doors opened there were two guys in suits on either side of Elvis Presley. I got the distinct impression that they wanted me to wait for another elevator so the encounter only lasted as long as the interval for the doors to open and close. It was kind of a surreal occurrence that has you wondering if you really saw what you think you saw. I’m sure everyone will recognize this guy. One of my Daytona Bike Week trips in the early 2000’s. This was on Main Street, didn’t get a chance to chat.

Lemmy from Motorlhead was a co judge at a cheerleaders competition I was invited to because I took photos of UK American football games for a couple of UK publications.
He walked up to the door of the nightclub - I think it was Stringfellows - and was refused entry because the guys on the door didn't know who he was. I told the guys and he got entry. Spent a short while with him at the bar having a drink before the judging.

REO Speedwagon ...my cousin were 17 and I went to downtown Indianapolis to ride the "all glass" elevator to the top of the Adams mark hotel ...just screwing around , trying to get in trouble I guess(haha) . We got a little over 1/2 way up and the elevator stopped , I thought we had been busted . Several scraggly-head dudes got on (REO ) and rode to the top with us , we got off and back down they went. We were so shell shocked , we didn't say a word , wasn't even thinking of an autograph !!! Also met Larry Bird , Johnny Rutherford and just about every member of the Air Force Thunderbirds in the late 1960's to mid 70's . Had a chance to personnaly meet Bill (I did not have sex with that woman) Clinton but I turned it down !!

I had spent nearly 23 hours without sleep when eating breakfast at a small motel Lander WY, was staying there sort of, when I look up as saw Dennis Weaver and wife. Due to my lack of sleep didn't recognize him at first. Did say good morning to him.
Haven't had the pleasure of meeting DDT.

Leif Garret came in the local country pub - Exeter Arms, Barrowden, England - I went to on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't know who he was until he came to share the table and introduced himself. Still didn't know who he was but he seemed an OK guy. He did some card tricks.

When I came back to the states from se Asia in 72 I literally bumped into Ernest Borgnine coming out of a restaurant at the San Francisco air port. I'd lost 30 lbs when I was over there and Ernest was a solid fellow, knocked me on my A__. He helped me up and apologized then went on his way. I wasn't in uniform as they had told us to travel in civilian clothes because of all the protests.
