Since Nancy has started moving in, one question she asked was what I put up for decorations during the Christmas holidays. I told her I've not put up anything in the four years since I left Florida, to which she answered "this year we'll at least have a tree." Okay, so this is what I came up with...seems a bit early though.  coolsmiley

Don't forget to put some Christmas lights up as well!

I like it John.

We had a large decorated Poinsettia on the dining table with presents around it.  cooldude

Hope she doesn't want lights on the tree, I think it would be going a bit overboard.

Serk..I like it, I might try that myself this year. maybe in front of the garage door.  cooldude

First thing...Darkside the base of the tree. Go with a Goodyear Triple Tread or something like that.

LED light kit.

Chrome. Lots of it.

If it is a fake tree, synthetic water. If real, dyno water.

Lemon pledge to make it shine.

ever since my 2 kids moved out 5 years ago,  we no longer do xmas decor in the house, why bother?  Neither come home for xmas and instead we go up to their homes in December.

wife does, if feeling ambitious, toss a set of timed lights on one of her house plants though, is about it.

I put a string of lights on a large basket of silk wandering vine years ago.  The basket sits on a large hand etched copper container (which glows nicely with the lights on).  It gets turned on once in a while and more around Christmas.  I also have one of those Michaels artificial wreaths nicely decorated with Christmas decor that has a string of lights embedded in it.  It gets hung on my picture window and plugged in at Christmas.

Total time decorating, three minutes.

I had three nice artificial trees (big, medium and small), but gave them away.

My wife is the decorator and she spends many hours on setting a tone for different seasons. All I have to do is help haul all the stuff in and out of the attic and then enjoy her handiwork. I predict a growing addition to John’s tree and other decorations.

I quit with the tree several years ago.  I gave the train set, fake tree and ornaments to #1 son as he still decorates for my grand daughter.  My kids never cared much about the decorations.  Two years ago #2 son bought me a Leg Lamp for Christmas, My wife won't let me put it in our front room window for Christmas though.

John, I fear you're right on that. I see no way to avoid it so will just go with the flow.

Nancy thought Serk's post & picture of lights hanging in a ball was hilarious. Placing it in front of the garage door was a wonderful idea...I may follow his lead on that. cooldude
