2001 Interstate. 114,000 one owner miles. Bike has been parked most of the winter months. Pulled in after a short ride and heard a buzzing sound from behind the timing belt cover. Don't hear it when the bike is first started, but once it is warmed up. Timing belt was changed at 93,000 miles by reputable mechanic. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance for your input.

Buzzing usually means something metal is loose. Have you checked the "Buzz Bolt"?

 Buzzing sound could be a loose screw or as in my tourer the belt tensioner bearing singing .Replaced it with anew one as well as a new belt . was not that old but ...

Here's a link on the buzz bolt.  

IF this is your problem.  If it's the buzz bolt (actually it's the buzzing spacer the bolt passes through), it generally gets worse with RPMs, if your exhaust doesn't cover the noise.

This is harder to reach on an Interstate because the bolt is inside the pod.  You can reach it with a ratchet extension and Ujoint, but if you slip cranking hard, the pod is easy to crack/damage.

It's not where the finger is pointing, it's right above his first knuckle, the rear bolt.  The spacer tube between the frame (the bolt passes through) gets loose enough to rattle/buzz.  Crank hard on the bolt to capture the tube.

Yep, and if it doesn’t mention it in the link you can really crank down in that bolt. I was told you won’t break it and it’s gotta be tight tight to stop the buzz.

Completely unrelated to what this topic is about but I get a buzz sound when I use my rear brake, it's been like that since I got the bike about 3 years ago. I figured I needed to pads but the pads are in good shape.

The first thing to do with brake noise is to get down and thoroughly scrub them with stiff bristle brushes and mildly corrosive S100 or Spray Nine and a hose.  It's actually a good idea to do it every year or so just to keep them optimal. 

Then if the noise persists, it's something else.

The buzz from brakes is normal. Sounds like cicadas. This is from the slots cut in the rotors. All of my Valkyries and VStars have done this. Some break pads are not as loud as others.

Thanks I figured it was normal once I investigated and seen the pads and rotor were fine
