Prepping the bike for the 2023 riding season. FLuids etc and my personal favorite, greasing the rubber seal on the saddlebags.
I started doing this quite a while ago after getting water into a bag whilst riding during a frog choker.
I knew it wasn't coming in by the bolts holding the bag in place because I had already put some soft rubber grommets in addition to the factory ones.
When a very thin film of grease is applied I can feel the bag "grip" the seal as I close the lid.

I think with the rubber bag seal, the idea is to treat it to keep it soft and spongy, not to grease it.
Maybe Armorall or something like that.

All the years I've been doing it and never a visible problem with the seals. |

All the years I've been doing it and never a visible problem with the seals. No but grease gets on other stuff. Sometimes the hinges/latches can be fiddled to close tighter. |

the spray has other ingredients in it that can damage certain rubber materials I prefer silicone grease in a tube. |

the spray has other ingredients in it that can damage certain rubber materials I prefer silicone grease in a tube. I've used it for decades on my truck and car door seals, saddlebag rubbers, etc. Never had any issues. |

Silicone Spray, me too. Silicone grease and spray are compatible with almost everything, certrainly nitrile and EPDM rubbers. And they're slow to dry out.

My solution to frog chokers (otherwise known as normal Ohio storm systems) is to leave the Valkyries at home and take one of my C14s. They're built to be ridden in slop. One day I'll add an ADV (probably a 1290 SA) to my collection and take it if the roads will turn really rainy and muddy. The Valkyrie deserves a better life.  |

who ya gonna play with? and please dont tell me about any blow up things  The crack of dawn aint safe around some folks But back to the scheduled programming I have this mobil 1 stuff for the axle and use the guard dog replacement stuff on the final drive |
