Nope, but I can see why you might think that.

Mitsubishi crank angle sensor.

Edit to add:

Which is a part of a Mitsubishi Opti-Sensor/distributor, I'm seeing it related to Chevrolet vehicles, and knowing your toys I'm gonna guess for your 'Vette?

Bingo! Not a crank angle sensor, but the devilish camshaft driven opti-spark distributor used on 90’s Lt-1 V8’s. The one in the picture is off my 95 Impala SS which shared the Lt-1 engine with the last C4 Corvettes from 93-96. Thankfully Chevrolet dropped that system with the LS series of engines.

The original Mitsubishi sensor is considered the best hence I kept mine. The issue with the design was moisture, coolant and or sometimes oil getting inside and then you have big trouble. Another design flaw was you have to remove the leak prone water pump to get to the distributor to service or replace it. In 217,000 miles I’ve replaced the water pump 3 times and the distributor twice.

The GM name for it was the ABITS distributor.  We calibrators called it the aweshits distributor, and it was prone to failure if liquids entered the system.

Someone came up with a work around to convert it to coil on plug ignition but at about $2,500 for the conversion I’m out. Rather put that towards an engine swap, like I’m really going to do that!

The Lt-1’s also had shaft driven water pumps which is cool but their downfall was poor bearings and seals.

Somewhere between the balancer and the water pump and hidden from view is the opti-spark.
