Just one??

I recall about 8 or 9 years ago we had an incredible dragonfly hatch. I'm guessing that is what you call it. Virtually all of NW Iowa affected. Lasted a couple of days and really insanely bad one evening. We're talking millions, maybe billions of these things. No kidding. 3-4 inches long. We were out on a bike ride that evening and thought getting out in the country would get us in the clear.

Nope. Thick as hell they were. Occasionally we got a few second reprieve but then we'd hit'em thick.

Dark green shiny things.

Bike looked like it had been in a war when we got back.

I rode the Laughlin River Run (SoCA to Laughlin NV) in 1990 across the Mohave Desert with some thousands of bikes.  West to East.  The Monarch butterflies were migrating South to North, millions of them.

Every rider and bike was covered with streaming and cooking butterfly guts.  They don't taste good either.

Luckily, I was on a dresser with fairing and shield.  I pull into the gas station and there are no-windshield long bearded HOG riders hosing the guts, dead and dying butterflies out of their beards.  Laughter is the best medicine.  Imma get me a shield next year.

Kind of a Moses and the Pharaoh Biblical event.

Don't know anything about your dragonfly, but from reading about them, sounds like they are a good bug.  Maybe just back off and let them do their thing.

I did have the opportunity to drive thru an Ant hatch several years ago.   Had to pull over a couple times to clear off my facemask.  Other 4 wheeled vehicles' windshields were just as bad.  Not sure how they could see thru them.

Perhaps... lol

but, this pest is invasive in this case.  It's insidious.

It seems to attach itself to threads on this board and take them over, leaving the thread to die.

More often locked or removed.  But I know what you mean.

I wanted to be dramatic.

I guess I could have said "infect it to the point that it has to be quarantined or killed"

I'm still amazed a thread got locked on the general board that was discussing raccoon removal.

I imagine a modern take on the Carly Simon song would be, "you're so vain, you probably think this thread is about you."

Basically, in my defense of making this thread, there was nothing on tv and it's cheaper than a movie.

Going woke. Bowing to to something no matter how ridiculous it may be. More infectious than The flu and no vaccines available.
