1999 Interstate I recently bought the bike and wanted to get an Ultimate seat for it, which I picked up 2nd hand this week. I went to try it on the bike for a test fit, which went great but now I can't get it off! I've tried everything I can think of and it won't move. I've tried pushing down on it, sitting on it, bouncing a knee on it, all while turning the key, no good. I removed both side covers looking for the cable, still connected, still moving, just not releasing. I can't reach the latch itself with my fat fingers and my pliers are not able to get a good grip on the cable.
Does anyone have a trick or technique to help me, or if there's anyone in the Clear Lake area of Houston who has a clue how to get this thing off, I would certainly appreciate the assist. I have read every post I could find on the subject, so far no progress.
Thanks in advance Kiwi

Tough one...
You may need to get someone to turn the key while you jiggle and coerce the seat loose.
Good luck!

Push down on seat , turn lock, a long thin screwdriver and a six pack.

My keyed seat lock froze up from non use once and if you take off side covers and use a long screwdriver you can manually push the latch over to release the seat

Thanks for the suggestions folks, I finally got it off by removing side covers and using tools to trip the latch. Good to know there's help out there.

I'm in the Houston area, specifically Seabrook. So I'm very close. If you need a hand with anything else, please contact me.

I also have the stock seat I took off my 99 IS. Anyone want it? IT was removed at 13K. I hate to see it go to the trash when I clean out my storage.
I'm north of Houston near Tomball.

Hi Marcus, you might be better off posting this in the classified section for free or in the Texas chapter under a new topic. I think it will get more attention there. If you don't have time to wait I'll take it for you and find a home for it somewhere along the way. I agree it would be a shame to just go in the trash.

Put it on classified...FREE, BUT YOU PAY SHIPPING. Big PITA to box up though. I gave my IS seat (mint) to a guy in MD, and he gave me a shifter buddy.
