I just had my fork seals replaced, and of course, needed new brake pads. I didn't notice it when I drove it home, but when I engage the front brake, I hear a rapid clicking sound.

Is this normal for new pads?

Check to see that you got your axle flush with the fork... like this...
If it is not flush, it can make a click...

I checked this, and found a funky bolt on the right side. I had this done at a dealership - is it possible they messed up my bolt, and put a different one on?

I can't post the picture - thought it was photobucket.com, but don't want to sign up for a monthly subscription fee.

Thanks - just tried that, and it is a circular linking to the terms of service page. I clicked on the 'My Photos' link, and it took me right back to the terms of service page. I clicked on the 'Terms of service' link, and it brought me to the terms of service page.

I haven't used it myself because my anti virus software (Bitdefender) issues a warning after I sign in. Perhaps they'll fix it.

"The left side is fine and is flush. The attached photo is of the right side."

If I can do this................

https://postimages.org/

Create an account using the SIGN UP box top right.

Create a new gallery by clicking on the box towards the top left

Upload photos. Do a max of up to 15 at a time or it can take too long.

Once uploaded put your cursor on the image you want to put on the VRCC forum

Now move your cursor to the symbol to left of the trash bin symbol
Click on it
Now copy the "Hotlink" for forums.

Now go to the VRCC post you want the photo to appear in and right click and paste.

Once you then post your comment the photo should appear for all to see.

Thank you for this. I did go there and got signed up, but Ron kindly helped me out by posting my image for me (see above).

I still want to know if this is the proper bolt on the right side of my forks.

Yes it is.

Here's a Honda picture of bolt.

Thanks so much! Apparently, either the other bolt isn't as flush as I think it is, or there is another reason for the clicking. I'll check with the guy at the dealership, let him know what I am hearing, and what advice I am getting from this forum.

If it’s a fast noise and kinda sounds like a cicada, it’s normal. The sloted rotors will make noise when brakes are applied. Cheaper pads (not recommended) can sometimes be quieter but oem have always done this on all my Valkyrie’s and my v-stars.

Keep in mind the bolt on the left side isn't a bolt at all, its the axle with a hex head molded into the end.

Verify the mechanic followed the procedure for installing the front wheel. There is a specific sequence used to put everything back together, then bounce the forks to seat the axle, tighten pinch bolts. Then you check the clearance between the brake disc and caliper to verify at least 0.7mm (.03 inches). The procedure is pages 13-13 through 13-15 of the Honda service manual.

If that is good then you are probably just hearing the usual new pads breaking in.

If organic brake pads were used, they tend to make a sort of clicking sound but you should only hear it while braking. If you hear it all the time, your left fork is out of position.

These are OEM brake pads, and the fast clicking is only heard while braking. My truck stacks were so loud before I put in Mark T.'s silencers, that I had to have ear plugs shoved in pretty tightly in my ears, so it isn't any wonder I can hear things now that I didn't before. I'll take the fast clicking any day!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am still fairly new to my Valkyrie - only had her two years now, and have only put on 10,000 miles on her. I am learning a lot from all of you, and I appreciate the wisdom found on this forum!
