I have noticed that the numbers of motorcycles on the road are declining. I rode 185 miles this morning mostly back roads but I did go thru small towns....Brenham, Industry, Sealy, Navasota, Round Top, Burton, Bellville. (All Texas towns), in very scenic areas and I did not see a single motorcycle on the road. Saw a few parked in places but not one on the hyway or road. Dont understand it.

Around here the weather has a lot to do with the number of bikes on the road.
On those first warm nice spring days bikes come out of the woodwork.

is only cycle season here past few weeks and only say 5-6 days of those few weeks been nice out. Give it time, but yah, cycles have declined for sure..
ONLY a few select younger generation under age 30 can afford cycles and they do not think cycles are safe / dangerous is the concensus, I believe anyways.
Scooters though 50 to say 150cc has gone up though I believe in my area since those are under 2 grand or so.
The avg. price of NEW say 750cc cycles is CRAZY HIGH like 8-10K which is not cost justified to own/buy. Also, most younger riders do NOT wrench at all nor even change their own car oil, let alone cycle oil, etc. Forget about that then buying a good used cycle as well since I think a lot of younger kids want NEW vs. used low mileage cycles.

Reasons you don't see so many motorcycles on the road now days.
Younger generation tends to be scooter folks.
Phones. Hard to ride using a phone.
Manual transmissions are now alien technology for upcoming generations.
No room for a big bass sub woofer speaker.
Gas bikes are bad for the planet and ebikes cost too much.
Russians
Possibility of rain.
Can do it virtually.

I had a different experience, at least today. This week we have been out riding rural roads in NC and VA. On the BRP we did not see many motorcycles today.
But on Tuesday and Wednesday we saw many motorcycles. Not 10's but 2's and 3'2 and many single riders.
Yesterday we saw at least four or five trikes both the regular trikes and the ones with the two wheels forward.
I wondered, why so many during the week and in April. Maybe it was not that different but to me it was and I thought, maybe a change in working hours. Maybe people like me, retired, have more opportunities.
So, I was impressed these last four days (weekdays) at the number of bikes we saw.

For me, cool(er) Spring is the time to ride (after dreary winter), because summer heat is murder (for me).

Last week we ventured from OR to FL for a visit. Mostly drove on super slab. WE didn't see many bikes till got to southern NM. Few adventure types and HD's were out once we got to I-10. Maybe too early for many in the norther half of the nation. I see where we were having cooler weather (snow) the first part of the week back in OR. So tis a bit early.

I put a new battery in the I/S a little over a week ago and went for first ride of the year 75 deg and sunny. The next day we got 3 inches of snow, temp dropped to low 30's and it's been there ever since. It warmed up to 45 one day and I spotted one bike on the freeway. Been rainy and snowy ever since so don't think we'll see many bikes for a few weeks until it warms up.
