I recently bought a 2000 Valkyrie Interstate with 27K on the clock.  I am upgrading from a Shadow 750.  I am liking the power and highway capabilities of this bike.  cooldude

Welcome from Houston.   I had a Shadow 1100 for a while, really loved that bike, but of course the power doesn't even compare.

Cheers!

Welcome, I'm a little north up near Denton. Mine's new to me too, got it last November. I ride a VTX1300 too. The Valk is really a cool fun ride. It's taking me sometime to get used to really low speeds two up with load.

Thank you.  Sounds like there enough folks in the DFW area for a local meetup.
I would like to see more Valkyries up close to get ideas on upgrades and to see if anything has been done to mine that is not obvious.

I'm about 8 miles south of Denton in Argyle. If I take the bike out for the day, I normally ride North toward the Red River on really nice roads with no traffic. I'd possibly meet up if I don't have another commitment and don't need to deal with high traffic roads. Being on opposite sides of the metro mess might create an issue. If I go south I take 51 through Weatherford. I'll try and watch this thread to see if anyone has an idea that generates interest.

Congrays on the new bike! I bought my I/S 2 months ago and it had sat longer than previous owner admitted and I've been working through hydrolock but things are starting to go back together and hoping to have a running Valk soon. I would love a NTX meetup. My first bike was a shadow spirit750 that I did about 25k miles on. Next was a honda aero 1100 (still have it) that I've done about 35k miles on and I picked up a Triumph Speed triple along the way too. I'm in north Fort Worth and regularly ride out west and north to get away from traffic.

I still have my Shadow 750. Picked up the Valkyrie from a dealer, and the engine seems to be running well. Although I am now getting a slight gas smell and seem to have a small leak on the side of the engine.  I will posting in the Tech section as soon as I find the correct engine part terminology.
I am all for a meet up in area.  It would be good to see other bikes and how they are set up.

Grapevine or Roanoke could be a place to meet on the North side. Weatherford also works for me. They are all a long way from Waxahachie. I ride all summer in the morning, but it's feeling like September will be a lot more enjoyable.

There used to be a good sized Valkyrie club in the DFW area but it fell apart as the same folks ended up being officers and when they stopped voluteering, the club failed.  Then these folks sold off their Valkyries or got into other groups.  But with that, there are still a bunch of old guys who like to ride, maybe on their other bikes but some still on the Valk.  If you schedule a ride, you may get more than  you think, especially if not in the summer.

I am in Sunnyvale Tx-the  eastern'est city in Dallas-the traffic in Dallas is very heavy with so many transplants making getting to the other side truly dangerous-it can be done safely making a wide loop taking up  a lot of time or trailering which makes it a killjoy or a 2 day excursion.. --a meet-up/ride going to Arkansas/Oklahoma has a lot of possibilities but October would be cooler and more colorful-rumor has the Hill Country has gotten too -crowded /popular/policed...

another thought is "THE TEXAS FOREST TRAIL" it makes  a big loop-800mile- thru mostly eastern and central texas thru the best parts...a few  stay over hotels planned ahead could allow for  quite a few of us to have a good time and then later go the other direction the next time...a GPS should cover it

Wanted to bump this back up to the top. Now that it's cooled off, any north Texas folks want to meet up? I've been doing a couple hours ride from north fort worth out to decatur then up through Alvord through Forestburg up past St Jo's on 677 out to Spanish fort and then coming back. Fun ride and leaves are starting to change in spots. Also open to finding any new rides someone else might suggest.

I doubt anyone will be there tomorrow with the weather rolling in, but there is Bikes & Coffee every Sunday morning on the Denton Square.  For the time being, I'm back down to only the bumblebee as my ride, so if you see one, it's me.  Another long-time VRCCer, Baron, is often there.  Sometimes it's just coffee and/or breakfast before Sunday chores.  Other times it's the meetup for a ride to eat somewhere.

This weekend actually looks good for weather and my wife just told me I don't have any plans. I'm also interested in seeing some other Valks close up. I've had mine for just a year now and have a Triumph Street Twin and a VTX 1300. When I've riden north from Decatur to Saint Jo I've taken 730 out of the square to 455 to Forestburg, pretty nice route. I typically turn north after Illinois Bend (before Spanish fort) over the Red river through Ringling and Commanche to Medicine park Ok for hiking vacations with my wife. We were actually through there 3 weeks ago. 677 was close just north of St Jo.

If you can easily access 156 it pretty much goes traffic free after Justin. I like to hit 156 from my home  in Argyle at Ponder but Justin also works for me as does Decatur. I stay on the West side of 35 through Krum, Bolivar (West Sanger), pretty much until just before the county stops asphalt, then cross over 35 at Lois Rd and head to Whitesboro, maybe Gordonville or Gainsville on roads like 3002, 372, 678, really nice area, no cars. You can also come up 156, loop North toward Whitesboro and loop back to Decatur.

Fgtex, I haven't heard back from Josh so it would just be you and me. I'm good with anytime after 8am. I would say you pick the time as your making an hour plus ride, before we even start. I'd suggest we leave out of Roanoke, assuming your coming up 360. I'll shoot you a message with some options.

Disco, I was at the Square for a bit this morning, couldn't stay long, met David pretty cool. Took a little ride with fgtex yesterday. He came all the way up from Waxahatchie. So I was wanting to see a Standard close up (I'm pretty sure your Bumble Bee is a Standard?). Anyway if you give me a heads up the next time your going to the Square, I'd like to come up and meet you and see your bike.

Good report, Pete.  Sorry I missed y'all.  Not my SOP, but I did a Toys for Tots ride Saturday from Sanger to Corinth.  It was all the riding I could squeeze into a weekend of chores.

This coming weekend is filling up with an early Thanksgiving with cousins from out of town, but the weather looks favorable.  If Sunday morning in Denton works out for me, I'll post.

Disco, This weeks been crazy. Daughter got covid so we took the grand kids. It looks like they're going to the other grandparents on Saturday so Sunday morning could work. I'll check tomorrow night to see if you plan to go.

Doesn't look like I'll make the Square tomorrow. The other Grandparents are unable to take the kids. The Valk's a lot of fun, but sometimes life gets in the way.

What time is the coffee and bikes and what is the name of the coffee shop in the square? Weather early Sunday might be a little cool but if not wet I wouldhead that way.

I believe the official time is 9-11am. When I went the bulk of the bikes were lined up on the North side of the Square, Court House Side. You can't miss it. I think the Coffee shop is directly across the street, maybe West Oak Coffee bar. A lot of people were just hanging out by the bikes, coffee or not.  We had grandkids here all weekend. I guess everyone's leaving today, but we're thinking of fall cleanup and Christmas decorations tomorrow. Text me if you decide to head to Denton and I try and head up. We're retired so I can likely talk the wife into pushing a day on the home stuff.

So I was telling my wife how much I enjoyed the meetup yesterday. Showed her the picture of the 4 Valks. I had to tell her I was a little jealous of you single guys. I mean single seats, plans to ditch the tour pack, riding 48 states without using the super slab; you really didn't need to tell me all that.

So my wife the vegan who hates motorcycles said, if I wanted to get you back, to tell you that I get to come home to a delicious plant base dinner every night Huh?

It was a fun meetup.   cooldude   Kinda weird remembering being the new guy way back when and now being the old-timer!   Huh?  Looking forward to the next time.

Life Goal 1:  riding 48 States while avoiding the Interstate Highway System.  Check   coolsmiley

Life Goal 2:  delicious plant-based dinner every night:  Not so much.   Roll Eyes
