ticking noise

Long story short I hit the start button without tensioners on the timing belts. I bent the number 5 intake valve. I purchased another head and it sounds really smooth, bike runs well but I can hear a tick. I used a electronic stethoscope and traced it to by the number 2 cylinder. I have adjusted and rechecked the rocker clearance and still ticks. Before I by a head for that side I thought I would ask on here to make sure I couldn't be hearing a vacuum valve or something in that area. The price we pay for brain farts.

I would do a leak down test on that cylinder before I took it off. Are you sure its not the pair valve you hear ticking?

where is the pair valve? I'm trying to find it on the parts page (Partzilla). The tick speeds and slows with the rpm if that helps.

I doubt it’s the pair valve. It doesn’t make the rhythmic sound like clicking lifters do. I’d bet on other bent stuff. But like Challenger said, check the compressions first.

Have you checked for an exhaust leak?

Thanks for all the help. I don't know why i didn't think to check compression and leak down. I will check when I get home. It doesn't sound like an exhaust leak but I will check that also tonight.
