Just saw his ad on the classifieds. I wonder if anyone could maintain the bike as well as this one. There are a few, I saw them at the Spring Fling. I would be honored to own it but that won’t be happening. I hope it all works out and someone special will take it home.

My biggest fear is someone with a pocket full of money would buy it with no idea the work and effort it takes to keep a bike in this condition.

I sold my home of 40 years in 2018 and I got close to top dollar and more than I actually thought possible. I’m just glad I now live 225 miles away as the new owners have probably destroyed all my work. Family tells me stories of the mess the place has become, but I got to see it first hand last week and it was heartbreaking.

Yes…. I would feel bad if I knew she ended up filthy and abused, but at the end of the day it’s not my problem. Sorry about your house John.

Ya,  I’m sure I could get WAY more selling it bit by bit. All the unobtainable stuff would bring good money. But can’t even fathom the thought.

Wow.  With the care and attention you've obviously applied to this bike, and the experiences and acquaintances you've made because of owning her, I'd figured you'd be hanging on to her at least until you weren't able to swing a leg over the saddle -- that or be buried with her.

Regardless of what happens with your bike, thanks for your contributions to the board.

Well two things, maybe three. First. My dad always said you should leave while the party is still fun. I always planned to keep her until one of us was no longer road worthy on two wheels. The bike would probably last longer than me lol. So why not pass an awesome bike on while it’s still awesome. Second even if I no longer own a Valkyrie I will still be wrenching on them, so that should make me Valkyrie related enough to maintain my membership here. And third I am tired of leaving my bride behind when MAYBE she could go more in a car. The dream is one of these:

Friend had one of those for a short while.

Sold it because it had too much power. Nope not a silly think to say.

On the N GA mountain roads the right foot had to be oh so gentle it took the fun away.

I'd be looking for a gently used Honda S2000 or a Mazda.

My Mazda 3 hatchback with the manual/auto gearbox selector is a little rocket.

I have a Corvette which I think is a better choice but if I thought a Cobra was a possibility for me I would probably pull the trigger. I have a neighbor that has a Cobra replica but we have never gotten together. Those side pipes, on his at least are loud!

I got an email this week from Factory Five Racing. They are giving away, (raffle for charity) a Cobra on June 24th. Tickets are $20.00 and all proceeds go  to the Cystic Fibrosis foundation. Just a thought.

Lol. The trunk definitely holds more than two saddlebags but it’s not like being on the road with a station wagon or anything

A Cobra kit car with a 350 CI (5 liter) might be affordable.

A Cobra with the 427 CI may be astronomical in price.

I see a complete kit car with 5 liter motor for $21K.

Something else.  Most of them have no top (hardtop or convertible).  With the wife in mind, no top could be a cold and wet experience, and limit your options and travel.

I had an Austin Healey Sprite (same as MG Midget).  The top folded down, but there was no boot for it, and it was in danger of blowing away driving with it down, so I had to leave it at home.  I had some cold and very wet experiences (in MI).

This was a terrible car, so don't get one.  Grin Just posted for the no top picture.  Also, no side windows, well there were plastic ones that bolted on, but did not roll down.  Left them at home too.

If you don't win out on the 427 Cobra, look into a Monster Miata....

Take a nice cute Mazda Miata, then put a V8 in it.

The stock Miata is no slouch. Granted, it doesn’t have the raw power of a big block Chevy. But it provides all the get up and go I look for at my old age.

Some do that with the Honda S2000 as well.

To me the Ford Cobra is an icon of American ingenuity. It’s like the Valkyrie in that nothing else is like it. It speaks to me just like the cobra bike. Seems meant to be. For now, nothing else will do!

It’s good to know what you want. My used Corvette purchase was a long journey and once I began in earnest to find the one for me it took two years. I didn’t end up with a “perfect car” but it was everything on my checklist and it’s still one of the most satisfying purchases I’ve ever made in an automobile.

I’m sure a Cobra will suit you and be as satisfying as the Cobra bike!

That’s the American way. Either invent it or take a good idea and make it way more fun. Some say why, isint 500 hp in a 1200 lb car rediculous?  And we all say “why?  Because we can”. Carrol Shelby was genius when he made the first one. I’m happy just to dream about owning a replica.

Ok. If you re looked at my ad you see I included a new Clearview shield with the deal. I got to thinking. My windshield is 13 years old. It still works fine for me but I do know it’s not as crystal clear as it used to be. Also, I have personalized with stickers so no one would really like it much. So I’d rather hang it on my wall if the bike sells. So the new owner will start out with a brand new Clearview shield at stock dimensions. I figured it was the right thing to do.
