Has anyone used the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 195/55/16 tire yet?

The collective Dark Side wisdom was to get a symmetrical, not an asymmetrical tire tread.

This tire is asymmetrical (with decent rounded edges).  It may not matter, and I think some have run them without issue.  I haven't.

It also says it's a performance Summer tire.  Summer tires can apparently be less than stellar performers in cold weather.  But some have run those too.  There is no winter in FL.   Grin

195-55-R16 is 24.4" diameter and 825 rev per mile. 205-60R-16 which is closest to stock tire diameter is 25.7" and786 revs per mile. You would probably be looking for that elusive 6th gear all the time. Might be great for city criusing. Y

The 195/65 is pretty close to stock diameter also. (My 5th gear isn’t elusive at all)  Smiley

You got me, thought I typed 6th gear. Also they don't make that tire (Indy 500) in a 65 aspect for a 16" rim

But limited choice in 195/65, especially with a nice rounded profile.  I don't even see that Radar you like anymore.  I dropped to a 195/60 for my next tire.

I think they changed it, and went with a different design. If I can’t find one when needed, I will look for a different 195/65.

205/65-16 lowers rpms by 200, elusive 6th gear.

The Firestone Transforce CV is available in 195/75 R16.  Tall tire, lowered RPMs, rounded corners, actual width narrow like Austone TT so well behaved.

Hey Mark. Any issues with bottoming out to the rear fender, or contact with the taillight wiring that's under there? 195/75 is definitely considerably taller than the stock 180/70.

with that large OD tire, good chance it is hitting the fender clearance for the shock towers cross over brace over large bumps.

FWIW two up with gear was rubbing Austone Taxi tires on my bikes, even with Progressive 444 heavy duty shocks (as evidenced by rub marks under the rear fender).  I loved the ATT when riding solo, and don't think it ever rubbed when doing so.

Is the ATT still available?

Depends on your setup & load.  I run ATT, have no issues.  I also run full height Prog. 444 with stiffer springs, and I'm no lightweight.  Doesn't drag even when hauling heavy trailer (Timeout camper) and co-rider.  Have not changed the wiring inside the fender. The tire is not wide enough to hit the side fender bolts.  Don't figure the tire's overall size by the designation printed on the tire.  Go by the actual tire measurements given by the maker's spec sheet.  They vary considerably between different brand tires that have the same size designators.  The ATT doesn't show the usual cross section height/width ratio - they call it  "175R16" with no ratio indication.   The Transforce in 195/75 16 is very close to the measurements of the ATT - but slightly taller.  If you are using shorter shocks (under 13"), especially with weak springs, I wouldn't use the Transforce 195/75.  Or if you try it & it doesn't fit your setup, you could sell it here or on FB classifieds.  If it fits, it's got a good rep for handling and lowered RPMs.  Price isn't bad as well.  It's reportedly the tire found to be closest in dimensions to the proven performer ATT tire, as well as rounded corners & strong carcass.  Good reviews for traction.  If there's another now, I don't know it.

11 inches is very short if that's the designation of your shocks.  OEM is 13.  If you keep those shocks you can't use a tall tire without problems inside the fender.
