Bells on bikes While many stories of bells on bikes abound I prefer to look for a more grounded story in blessing. Little did I know that the bell on bikes may have started as a bell on a priests robe. The Temple priests wore bells on a Robe called, Tekhelet. they were heard when the priest would go in and out so that he would not die in the presence of the Lord. I think of this blue piece of priestly garment with bells on it and think I wonder if that is why we like being outside riding so much and some even have bells on their bikes. Known or unknown spreading the Good news that our sins are forgiven and we have a great high priest that not only sympathizes with us, but knows what we go through. I have included the link below to the full article for the priests robe and the design and construction. God never leaves anything to chance. Every detail and design has a purpose and plan. Being on our bikes gives a feeling like no other, I cant help but wonder if we under all of life and situations when we get out and ride, deep down we are experiencing the peace and joy that God put in the places we ride. That we sense that, in our hearts, many not knowing the reasons why. "You are to make the robe of the ephod completely blue. There is to be an opening in its top in the center of it, with an edge all around the opening, the work of a weaver, like the opening of a collar, so that it cannot be torn. You are to make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet all around its hem and bells of gold between them all around. The pattern is to be a gold bell and a pomegranate, a gold bell and a pomegranate, all around the hem of the robe. The robe is to be on Aaron as he ministers, and his sound will be heard when he enters the Holy Place before the LORD and when he leaves, so that he does not die. As to the original post, that is more than a long stretch. It simply isn't true.
The bells on motorcycles are to accommodate a pretend superstition that they will keep away gremlins as the bike rolls down the road. Bells on the robes of the Israelite priests had nothing to do with or belief in gremlins. They were simply to tell the people outside of the Holy of Holies that the priest was still moving.

As with folklore or anything practiced that is superstitious sometimes its origins comes from real world situations. Since you or I don't know and will not find the real world origins of this its about as close as I can say a match would be. So God did not know if the priest was dead? It was God who was very specific in the manufacture of the garment. The idea of the rope was an earthly idea, not Gods. The gold bell and a pomegranate both represented something to the Lord and should to us also. The pomegranate was what Eve took a bite from in the Garden of Eden. If you read the highlighted scripture the reason for the bells was clear and its purpose was not to warn the people. Exo 28:31 "You shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue. Exo 28:32 "There shall be an opening at its top in the middle of it; around its opening there shall be a binding of woven work, like the opening of a coat of mail, so that it will not be torn. Exo 28:33 "You shall make on its hem pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet material, all around on its hem, and bells of gold between them all around: Exo 28:34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, all around on the hem of the robe. Exo 28:35 "It shall be on Aaron when he ministers; and
its tinkling shall be heard when he enters and leaves the holy place before the LORD, so that he will not die.

Shall be heard." People hear. God didn't need to "hear" to know that the priest was in the holy place. End of my discussion of this subject.

I have a few bells on some of my Valks, they were all gifts from friends or loved ones. I don't believe in Gremlins so, their presence is just for fun and reminders of who gave them to me.
There are some things in life that should just be enjoyed for what they are, fun things.

I have bells on my bikes, I figure the myth of them scaring off road gremlins will scare off the myth of the dark side tire flaming death and balance everything out in the end...

It seems the lord has spoken, but in another supportive article that some may find interesting, a cut and paste of a couple of lines. Why are bells sometimes used during Mass? In describing the vestments worn by the priests of Israel like Aaron, God explains to Moses how bells should be sewn on them. Bells were an integral part of divine worship, both to sound a joyful noise before the Lord and to ward off evil spirits. This particular feature of bells is still preserved in the Roman Ritual blessing of bells where the priest prays, “At its sound let all evil spirits be driven afar.” https://aleteia.org/2018/01/18/why-are-bells-sometimes-used-during-mass/I would like to ask everyone, Does the Lord ever need our permission to act? Heck this may have to go the pam board Who would have thought
