So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: May 16, 2023, 02:33:46 AM »

As some of this family know, my wife and I welcomed our first grandson (Rowdy) into this world last fall.   As one might expect, we spend a significant amount of time traveling to and from Millington, TN to visit and help baby sit.   It's a long 6 hour drive there.

A couple of weeks ago Rowdy's Grandmother and I went up to help out, she was going to stay a few weeks but I had business in Southern MS to take care of so, I trailered my Valk Trike there and rode it home.   Two weeks passed and I got on the "Rat" bike and ride north.   The plan is to trailer the "Rat" back home.

Anyway, on the way home, we stopped for fuel and to check a trailer tire.   While airing up that tire, two mid-twenty young men approached and wanted to know what that bike on the trailer was.   We had a long conversation talking about Valkyries.   They were both shocked when I told them the "Rat" was older than they were.   2funny

Both asked how much I wanted for the "Rat", told them it wasn't for sale but, told them where they might find some for sale.   One of these young men asked me if I would trade the "Rat" for his Mustang, told him thanks but no thanks.   The "Rat" bike has come a long way since I pulled her out of that field in Arkansas.   She'll never be a show bike but, it just goes to show ya how such a sexy, well designed bike can and does still get folk's attention.

Anyway, thought I'd share that story, it still makes me smile.   cooldude

Hadn't heard of Millington in a long time.  Me and both brothers were born at the Navy hospital in Millington.

I saw the thread title, and the opening, and figured this was gonna be a thread about the joys of being a grandparent with lots of pics of said spawnling being loved on and such...

Yup... never know the direction a thread is gonna take...  2funny

Actually the intent of the thread was to point out the "Rat" bike (A Valkyrie) as an attention getter and how she still holds her own as was attempted to be as described below.

I guess I'm guilty of TMI.  But, knowing how some folks talk about trailering, I thought an explanation might be helpful on why the "Rat" was on the trailer.   Wink
