In my trying to do the same...learning...I still have difficulty with the stupidity of other drivers. Yesterday we had stopped at Walmart, when leaving I was over halfway backed out of my spot and nearly blocking the entire lane to other traffic...nearly blocking. I had checked numerous times for traffic while backing up but sure enough, here comes this young female in a little Kia and blared her horn at me while yelling to watch what I'm doing...finishing off with the universal single digit salute. She pulled in two spots away and started to get out of her car, so I stopped and asked what the problem was. She railed on about how I wasn't watching, etc., so I let her finish...then asked why she chose to squeeze past even though it was obvious I had been backing out long before she got there. Her answer was a resounding FU and another salute, to which I responded that she didn't need to show her IQ via hand signals...it was already apparent. Nancy said I should have waved back with all 5 fingers showing, then tell her that's a whole week's worth. I refrained.  Grin

That's a good one!

We used to wave our hand and say something like "Here's a whole flock for you."

yah, it is dangerous out there for sure, even in rural WI roads.  Just never know when some idiot is coming around a corner halfway into your lane coming right at you.    What do you do?  Stop ASAP and swerve far far right (my choice) or I guess if have to run off the road into the ditch to avoid a head on collision, which is worse? hard to tell?

Only real PUCKER moment past few years was on main hwy. a car coming at me 60 mph was about 3 feet into my lane,  me heading at him if was not over to right side of my lane, instant head on collision, I loose for sure.
