Ride report.

Harley riders.. sigh.

I was told the plan was to meet at a gas station for an 8am departure. About 20 bikes showed up. One of the main guys was running late however. Couldn't get his Harley started. Turns out the morning of the ride he decided to take a bike that hadn't run in 5 years.

They show up at 9:15 and basically tell 15 of the other riders to piss off, and they are doing their own thing.

I'm confused but the guy who invited me (Ray) stayed with the main guys group and so did I. We stop in Walsenberg, 2 road side stops,  Fort Garland, and finally San Louis. We are only 50 mins from Red River but I start looking at the clock and doing some math..

We ride 5 more minutes and a Sporster loses a shift lever. We hunt it down, find it,  and they can't figure how to put it back on.

I'm frustrated, and tell Ray good luck and have fun.

I ride for 10 mins and see another Harley on the side of the road. I stop to see if he's okay,  he is but tells me Red River is a mad house, and he'd already left, last straw..

I turned around and had a nice ride home by myself.

Fun Fact. 95% of Harleys are still on the road. The other 5% actually made it home.

If that was yesterday be thankful you didn't get to Red River, NM  Shocked

Banditos had a shoot out.

Maybe the H-D's saved the group by breaking?

Put a tank of fuel through my Valk Cruiser yesterday, she needed to stretch her legs a bit.   Passed by several V Twins, I don't bother trying to determine what brand they are.   I wave at those who wave at me now.

Came up from behind a group of (15 to 20) riders with vests and patches on the back while I was stretching the fat ladies legs, didn't bother to slow down while passing them.   They appeared to be speeding, I definitely was in excess of the posted speed limit.   I don't do that often but when I do, i make a point of letting her have her way and she seems to like it.  Wink

In CA, I rode with a collection of Hogs.  One guy had this ancient old Knucklehead, which broke down every single time he rode it.  Of course we couldn't leave him (though after 4-5 breakdowns, I don't know why). 100 degrees on no-shade CA freeways was not a fun time.

Finally, when a ride was scheduled, I'd ask if Knucklehead was coming.  If he was, I wasn't going (with them).

Then there was the time I was invited to tag along on a group Hog ride up to Harper's Ferry.  We pull into town, and the leader's entire air cleaner assembly just falls off in the road (brand new bike).  While we all sit there as he scrambles to pick up his parts, I make a funny comment on parts falling off Harleys, and I get summarily thrown off the ride (even though most of the guys were laughing about my comment anyway).

I mean truth is an absolute defense, isn't it?   Grin

You didn't miss anything, just another rally, the GF and I spent the day in Red River on Saturday, she owns a townhouse there. It was packed, I have never seen it that busy out of all the years I have gone there, walked up and down the main street, lots of drinking and reving harleys. We left around 3:00pm headed for Questa and the road to RR was backed up for miles to get into town, closer to Questa about 100 or so burritos were riding hard and fast up the hill, they had just had some kind of encounter with the NM State Police in Questa, I think they had over run some restaurant/bar.

Many years ago I went on the " Trail Of Tears " ride that started here in Tennessee. Hundreds of bikes mostly all HD . I rode maybe 20 miles in this cluster F and said to myself F this 80 % of these people don't even belong on a motorcycle.
