That's right. #7 is the rear fender harness. #6 is also needed to get from the fender back to the side cover if you want to tie in the wiring there. If not, just cut off the forward plug (on #7) and splice from that point.

I will be doing this same swap in a couple of weeks. I plan on splicing in some couplings into the brake wiring so the owner can still put the trunk on when he wants. If you butcher the stock IS brake wiring, you can't connect the trunk wiring.

I figured that since the trunk plugged in a seperate connector, I could just switch the I/s fender harness (for the turn and lic plate light) with the Std harness Which Would have the brake light wires and connectors, and leave on all the time. But I see now I may need #6 also to get the brake wires.

Dang!! If everybody goes Super Valk, I will have to put the trunk back on just to be different! Actually, I think it keeps down the buffeting and make for a better ride. B

Why are some of you worrying about disconnecting the tail light when the trunk is on the bike? Run it with the trunk.

Think you could add a little more? Next question...does your motor bog down when you hit the brakes? Joe

Kingbee, That's what I'm going to do, leave on for extra light when trunk is on for touring, I stillwant to be able to unplug it fopr fender removal if needed, I liked the looks of yours last fall in PDC, Too many rear enders latley and I'm getting more saftey concious all the time (Is that old age creeping up?)

That's not the only thing creaping up. My big worry these days is cell phone saturation. Seems like 25 to 30% of the driving public is on their phone at any given moment. I installed a Standard/Tourer tail light on my I/S also, even though I have no intention of Super Valking it. Bought a Radiantz LED cluster to run in it, really bright. I'm thinking of installing a Signal Dynamics brake light flasher also. Kingbee's smart to have all those lights, might save your azz someday.

Just so I'm clear, to put the tourer style taillight in and leave the trunk lights operational, I need to replace these parts: IS SubHarnessA: 32102-MBY-000 IS SubHarnessB: 32103-MBY-000 with these parts: Tourer SubHarnessA: 32102-MZ0-000 Tourer SubHarnessB: 32103-MZ0-000 And then plug in my taillight, and all's good? (I'm not in a position to go out and look at the bike, so I can't verify this on my own.)

Yes...and you will have to splice some wires into the brake circuit so that it will power your tourer taillight. The trunk has its own plug. Or at least that is how I see it being done...having not actually done the work yet. So...you can say...that is how I plan to do it. Joe

Yes, I did the flasher mod, but just to the LEDs, for contrast

Joe I was going to use the subharness when I wired my Tourer tailight. I even bought the two wire harness's I fighured I needed. Once I removed the wheel and actually started the project i changed my mind. Since I don't plan to remove the trunk and I was going to have to splice the tail, brake light and ground wires anyway, it just seemed easier to run 3 16 gauge wires. I soldered the connections and ran the wires in a piece of vinyl tubing to the grommet where they pass through the fender. I zip tied the vinyl tube to the existing wire bundle. It was pretty quick and easy. If it ever fails, I still have the harness's I never used.

It looks to me like using those wiring subharnesses takes care of any splicing for you. The only question in my mind is if the plug on the IS subharness A matches the plug on Tourer subharness A. Am I way off base?

from my research, the end that connects to the bike is single pin connectors. The main harness on the Tourer/Standard has 6 (i believe) pin connectors. On the IS, it is 4 pin connectors for the signals/lights and the connector for the trunk lights. I don't have any empirical data yet, but will have next weekend.

On my i/S I spliced the tail light into the trunk harness and added a quick disonnect plug for the trunk and a 4 pin connector for the speakers.... Left the pin connectors under the fender for removal. Drop on the trunk, plug in the 3 under the seat, tighten the bolts and drop on the seat..... 5 min and back to normal.

What did you come up with? Haven't done it yet. It is scheduled for this weekend (not doing my bike). I will post pictures when completed. Joe
