Just a reminder that tomorrow June 14 is "Flag Day".   From the first link below:

Flag Day, also called National Flag Day, in the United States, a day honouring the national flag, observed on June 14. The holiday commemorates the date in 1777 when the United States approved the design for its first national flag.

So, if you have a flag, fly it.  The second and third links below describe how the flag should be flown or mounted or "displayed".

This is my flag.

I change out my flag every year. I use to do it on July 4th, but for the last 10 years or so I’ve been doing it on Flag Day and would give my old flags to a family friend who would take them to VFW (I think) and they would retire them properly. I just can’t bring myself to burn our flag even if it is the proper way to decommission them so now I have about 6 retired flags which need proper attention.

Proper and Respectful FLAG diposal here is handled by the local American Legion Post. Fairly certain most Veteran Orginizations would handle Proper FLAG disposal or put you in touch or know who to talk with. Could NOT bring myself to burn my old retired FLAGS either. RIDE SAFE.

Our local Legion, that I am a member of, has a drop box for old flags. I do not like seeing tattered flags flown.

I'm going to let this thread run the original thought; it is a good topic.  I'll start a seperate thread on boats shortly.
