Wasn't going to do it just yet, but the weather is lousy so since I already had the bags off I figured might as well. It's been just over 10k miles since the last service of the driveline and I was pleasantly surprised to see all the splines still look new, with plenty of semi-liquid lube still on everything. The edges of the teeth are still nice and sharp thoughout so I must be doing something right. Tomorrow I'll pull the u-joint, and if everything is good on that end I'll just clean it all up, replace all the O-rings and thrust washer and put it all back together. I plan to replace the rear brake pads while I have it all apart, and flush that part of the hydraulics. The current pads have quite a few miles left but won't last until the next driveline service. Besides, it's easier to do it now when everything is apart.

Later this Spring, I plan to pull the front end apart and replace the fork oil. While I'm at it, I'm going to replace the steering stem bearings as well, flush all the front hydraulics and should be ready for another long stretch of riding.

you are doing.  I checked the splines on the 98 while I had it apart for carb cleaning and they still looked good too.

Just not the inclination. But, it's something that needs doing so figured now's a good time. I'm about tired of the rain, I imagine you guys are getting more than us.

I was looking at the tire....a c/t 205/60....that thing looks huge laying on the garage floor, bigger than when it's on the bike. I swear it will never fit.  Roll Eyes

Say "hey" to Iris.
