Wow, it's been a long time since I've seen one of those. I had an old beat one when I was younger.  When they stuffed a v-8 in those things you almost had to remove the engine just to change the spark plugs.

Great pictures!

My father was a sign painter, I've seen him sit just like that, steadying his
painting hand, many times...

H/Gas is a newer class in the Southeast Gassers Association for lower budget pre-'67 rules.
This class is for 4, 6 cylinder, straight 8, flat head 8's. Must be straight axle, 4 speed (no auto).
Wheels, eng. etc. all '67 and before. Of course, have to be hand painted.
This one has a punched out AMC inline 6, radical cam, sporting a homemade intake and dual line 750 Holley.
Run against Sanctioned Gassers in your class, A,B,C,D,H, and the first one across the finish line wins!
No bracket crap.

Dragstrips all over the east on pack on the spectators when they are in town to watch the old school racing. This one made it's first run in Ohio two weeks ago, and a big race coming up in Knoxville, TN on Sept. 8-9

Just caught a quick look at American Pickers yesterday-YES I KNOW RERUNS-and the pickers were looking at a custom built 64 65 Studebaker pickup with an Aluminum trimmed out and chrome trimmed out 224 V 8 engine. And a yellowish paint job and some one off pinstriping. And some Highly corroded wire wheels. Long time ago-longer than I care to think about I drove a 56 or 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Seemed REALLY Fast for the time. RIDE SAFE.
