Just saw this on a news feed.  Have not verified it but just wanted to make sure it was known.

Evacuation Transportation Issue – Citgo Fuel Depot in Port of Tampa Accidentally Shipped Diesel Fuel as Unleaded Gasoline to Stations in Tampa, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Daytona and More.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) released an urgent consumer notification that Citgo fuel services from the Port of Tampa accidentally mixed Diesel Fuel into gasoline tanker trucks that offloaded product at gas pumps in Tampa, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and other areas.  [FDACS Notice HERE]

Customers who purchased Citgo gas at the affected areas after August 26th are at risk.  Those fuel stations pumped diesel instead of unleaded gasoline.

They gas engines don't run so well with diesel.  When I was a kid working at my dad's service station a local lady came in with her car barely running.  She had stopped a the brand new gas station by our new freeway and they had put diesel in her tank instead of gasoline.  My dad popped off the gas cap and smelled it right away.  That gas station went out of business 3 months later and never reopened.

That happened on a smaller scale in my home town.

Tanker filled the gas tank with diesel at the local station.

While meeting for a ride on a Sunday morning, three of use topped off there.

About 10 miles into the ride, my bike started smoking, as well as the 2 HD's.

I'm thinking head gasket, stuck piston ring? W T H, Valks are not supposed to burn oil. (Or coolant)

I wasn't surprised about the HD's Smiley

We all stopped and started looking things over and we figured out all 3 of us got gas that morning at the same place.

We rode on and topped off again after a little while and eventually the smoke cleared.

I blew it off, but one of the other riders couldn't and went back later to the station to complain. Not that it did any good, but he felt better I guess.

I heard some expensive cars had damage to the fuel injectors system and sued, but can't confirm that.

I did this to a PC800 ONCE. stopped running about the time the gas was completely gone. Took the local Honda shop a couple days to get my bike running again.

Now - I have 2 Diesel VW's. my Valk, and MIL's 2015 Chevy Equinox. I'm very careful at pumps about what I'm putting in each vehicle. D2 for the 2 VW's, Non-Ethanol gas in my Valk, and just about anything gasoline (maybe not the E15 / E85 products) in the Equinox.

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING INTO YOUR VEHICLE !!!
