I got a chuckle out of some of the posts. I’m always amused by “car guys” who don’t know what they are talking about.  One in particular referenced a C4 Corvette Z06. There never was a Z06 during the entire C4 run from 1984-1996. There was the ZR1 but it’s a totally different animal that nobody would confuse it with the Z06.

Lots of good pictures of vintage rides though!

I still miss my '65 Sunbeam Tiger. I heavily modified the engine and suspension. Raced in slaloms and autocrosses for 5 years. Never should have sold it.

All I can tell you is that I had a 1959 MGA that I purchased in Columbia, SC in early 1966.  Don't remember how many miles it had when I purchased it or how many miles it had on when I let my sister drive when I was sent to the USS Wasp in early 1969.   So, I only had it three years.  I drove it all over but longest trips were back and forth between Georgia and Great Lakes, IL.  No issues.

While in Great Lakes I noticed, when I was leaving my girl friends house, that one of the tires had its knock off "hub" missing.  I drove it back to the base anyway (40 miles, I was in Kenosha, WI).  No issues.

Later, well, 1971 or so, I purchased my "dream car" a 1963 Austin Healey 3000.   Drove it back and forth to the base in Connecticut (I think we were staying South Wick, MA).   But dreams have a way of fading and it was parked in my parents garage until it was sold (don't remember when).

In 1985, I got my second dream car, a 1985 Pontiac Fiero.   Did not do any sports car racing but did lots of Sports Car Rallies.  Not speed events, just time and distance (well speed was how you were to measure time for a distance).  My daughter got the car to drive a four years later as work got more involved.

Probably will not go that way again, but.... one never knows.   The MGA was "cool".  The Austin Healy was perfect.  And the Fiero was sort of a sports car sedan but still a two seater with that rear engine and it was special.  The place where I purchased it is not longer in business in Newberry, SC but the building is still there.

A friend of my wife had an old MG. I think I only saw her on the road a couple of times. Lots of electrical problems along with mechanical issues. She had a hate/ love relationship with that car. I truly believe it logged more miles on the wreckers hook than on all 4 wheels on the ground.
