A Slingshot with a conversion to four wheels!? Seems like the going’s rate is $7-8,000. About the only thing I’ve seen that might make the Slingshot viable for me except for cost!

$7K for the 4-wheel kit, plus the price of the Slingshot ($21,499 to $37,148 new, depending on model).

It looks like a lot of fun.   But too steep for me.

It looks better but how does license’s work for it? Because it’s now a car.

Looks like something out of Batman.

With different tires and some other modifications I wonder how it would be as a dune buggy.

For 3 wheelers, I like the Campagna T-Rex a lot more.

These are cool, but my biggest question is why? Half the appeal of the Slingshot was it's lack of a wheel, or so I thought. Lol. For $25,000, you could build an insane DF Goblin Kit Car and have more power, more open air feeling and a lot of money left in the wallet.

It was already a car, a three wheeled car.  Slingshots, I believe, have the same seats as cages and have steering wheels.

Slingshots look pretty neat but I do have an issue with them.

A few times over the last few years I'm cruising down the highway and have to pass someone on a 2 lane road.

Up ahead there is a car in the oncoming lane and looks like I can still easily pass.

Then I see that it is a slingshot and it is a HELL of a lot closer than it first seemed.

To me their oncoming profile makes them look like a car farther down the road.

This perspective lasts for a mere moment but it is an important moment at that particular time.

I get half way pass the car and realize things are not what they seemed.

Just don't expect to see a Slingshot.

I don't get that with anything else. It is just that front end profile that gets me.

3 wheelers can use car pool lanes (HOV lanes).  4 wheelers cannot (unless they are EV).  Seating configuration and steering mechanism matters not.

Legally and reality are two different things to me.  By that limitation wouldn't the old French Citroen be a motorcycle?   crazy2

In Indiana, a Slingshot is an "Autocycle."

Quote
Autocycles are defined as a three-wheeled motor vehicle in which the driver and passenger ride in a completely or partially enclosed seating area equipped with:
   rollcage or roll hoops;
   safety belts for each occupant;
   antilock brakes;
   designed to be controlled with a steering wheel and pedals.

Indiana BMV Info Autocycle

Autocycles have motorcycle license plate but do not require the operator to have a motorcycle license.

Adding a fourth wheel would remove the vehicle from the definition of an Autocycle.

I have noted this before, the Indiana BMV states: "Motorcyclists and motor driven cyclists are permitted to proceed, with caution, through an intersection with a red signal after 120 seconds, however, an autocyclist is not permitted to proceed through the intersection." Therefore, the BMV takes the position that if the stoplight malfunctions, a person operating an autocycle (or any other vehicle) is not permitted to drive through the intersection, but must wait until the light is repaired or a police officer directs traffic for the malfunctioning traffic light.

who cares,  the engine I believe is a 2.4L ecotec GM engine,  NO thanks.  NEVER been a fan of anything GM 4 cylinder EVER.

I sat in a polaris dealer once for giggles.  I had to shoehorn my body into it and rolled out of it.  If over 200lbs. you are not going to fit well or taller person either.    Sit very low like a corvette but skinnier and very very hard to get out of it once in.  If not comfy, why bother trying to look cool?  waste of money.

VA has a law that lets cycles/bicycles (that don't trigger light changes) run reds after two cycles of no green or two minutes (whichever is shorter) (two minutes is ALWAYS shorter), also yielding to traffic and after a full stop.  After one cycle, if no one is coming (from any direction), and there is no cop sitting there, I go anyway.

On bikes, first at the intersection, I often stop short of the stop line (for my safety), and I can't tell you how many times the car next to me does too, so nothing will trigger the green light for us.  I often make eye contact and point at the line and urge the driver to roll up to trigger the light.  Every once in a while, the driver understands and rolls up.  The rest give you the fat, dumb and happy stare.  And I'll run the red as soon as no one is coming (and no cop is watching), because the light will never change.

Wow!   I really like that and would love to have one (if I had your or John's money).   Looks cool and I'm betting a blast to drive (notice I didn't say ride).

Whether or not you like the 2.4 Ecotec, you obviously haven't driven or ridden in a supercharged or turboed version.   Honestly it's a kickass ride.   Would be a hell of a lot of fun (especially in something like this!

Legal and reality can indeed be different.  However, you responded to a question about licensing... implying a legal definition.  Although different states have different rules, regarding HOV use and driver's licensing.
As far as the Citroen, they produced 3 and 4 wheel vehicles.
