And that is on top of the already insane sales taxes that ranges from 7.5% to 10.75% depending on which county you live.

Of course, politicians in Sacramento claim that the taxes will go to schools and 'crime prevention' initiatives.

How is this different from creating a fee to be able to vote?
 Shocked

My guess is that the master plan is to make the 2A so utterly expensive and cumbersome to exercise that the majority of people will give up.

That will hurt specially the people who are poor and need access to the 2A the most for self protection.

Of course, for the rich, that is simply a small inconvenience and they use money for the problems to go away.

Of course, it will be litigated but will take many years for the case to work its way to the SCOTUS.

My guess is that the only responsible thing to do is to try to buy all the gear that I could possible want before the law is signed by Gavin Newson and becomes active.

Plus donate to the CRPA, as they are fighting the good fight for what is left of our 2A rights in California.

Quote from the article: “It’s a poll tax. It’s a tax on exercising a constitutional right,” said Chuck Michel, president of the California Rifle and Pistol Association, who opposes the tax. “We’re going to have to file a lawsuit to challenge it.”

Well, I know it’s a tough decision but I would have to move to a free state. That would be the only decision for me. And I get it. I love California too. I was born in LA County but there are limits to what you should have to accept.

We're in a good position with our mortgage so it's a little easier to deal with the insane expenses of living here. We have many great outdoor things and the weather is one of the best climates in the world. I can ride to Sedona and beyond from my door and never hit a freeway if desired.

I said to my pseudo-wife, when it becomes too much, we're moving.. she's on board with it as we've discussed it several times. We can have a better life away from Ca when the time comes.

At some point, taxes can become confiscatory (a taking without due process - 5th Amend), and an infringement on a fundamental right (2d Amend).

If I lived in CA (and some other places), I'd already have every firearm I ever wanted (ammo too).

And long before universal background checks.

@Chris: I agree, but it is complicated. My wife and daughter won't leave Cali no matter what.

@Bret: Cali weather is really hard to beat.

@Jess: I was working on it, but now I'm going full steam!

Sounds like a class action lawsuit is needed.

Or just head east to NV to get your ammo/firearms.

Glad I left CA in 2010.
