please realize i am not trying to be a wise guy, nor am i mad at anyone, but there is something i have been experiencing on this board and another that deals with kwik kamps and such. i have one of the very nicest 98 tourers i have ever saw, and i've been riding valkyries since they first showed up. i got it from a man in boulder who had stored it for years. he sent it out and the local Honda dealer went through virtually everything, charging him $2,700.00 to get it ready to sell. my doctor says after my heart attack that as long as i keep riding my valkyrie trike he's good with it, but not back on a heavy 2 wheeler. so, i need to sell it and put it on the classifieds. i suddenly get an influx of interested parties. " pictures, we need pictures, hundreds of pictures, apparently the 5 i put on the classifieds ere not enough, where is it ? will you meet half way, will you lower your price ? i'm going to be in your town next week, i'll stop by, (but never does, i wait all weekend, not even a call telling me he wasn't coming) man i really appreciate waiting all weekend for someone who ain't gonna show. but then sends me an e-mail saying it has too much chrome on it - seriously, too much chrome ??? and guys it has a $1,400.00 corbin seat on it and i was only asking 6K for it with only 20K miles on it. and all the work orders from Honda showing everything they did to it getting it ready to sell, pristeen is an under statement. o.k. so i take it off the market and have decided this is just too much BS and decide ill swap the motor and trans into my trike and put all the parts on the one with 20K miles and hope some one wants a 50K bike instead. what is going on with these forums ? i also have a bushtec bunkhouse camp trailer that has never been slept in, absolutely brand new, i put it for sale on the forum for trailers and damn !! i'm having exactly the same problems, a literally brand new bunkhouse for 5K and they are saying 400 miles is too far to come to get it. i guess they plan to set it up in their back yard to sleep in it. am i the only one having these problems ?

I think selling stuff is a pain. With all the scams on the Internet it is even worse. I’m not sure how to get around it. I have told my son in law it will all be his to deal with one day.

a few years back i became the owner of a new bunkhouse and a mini mate trailer at the same time, retail value was 10K, i tried to sell them but was hit with all the same crap. i wound up donating both of them to the CMA, they are using the snot out of them so i'm happy enough. i guess i'll ride the valk till it scares me off and do the same thing. the CMA is a great ministry that does a lot of good in the motorcycle world, they are worth the donations.

That is not only very generous, but it sounds like really good use of them.

Haven't seen your ad and I don't need another Valkyrie in my stable. Having said that, I've gone through the same things on FB Marketplace.
My advice is to simply take twenty or so pictures and post them on the venue of choice. Post the price and give a general location (city). Tell anyone who asks that the bike is still for sale and can be seen by appointment. Ignore any further requests, they are probably people trying to get a deal way lower than you're offering.
When I want to sell something, I price it to sell, I don't worry about what the market says it's worth. But then, if I put it up for sale, I'm ready to move it to someone else's garage. If you state the price is firm, you'll get less of the people who want that great deal. But you may hold on to it for a while. This time of year isn't a good time to sell (generally speaking) but, if it's priced to sell, someone will travel to get it. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

heck, if you put 3K on the cycle, someone will want it for 2K, such are people thinking hey if 3k is good price be better for 2K right?
I quit doing garage sales when some lady with 5 unruly kids came and played with all my kids toys in my garage all the while the mom said will you take .25 cents for a dollar toy in reality worth easily 3 bucks or so. I said NO, put them back then and she just left in disgust while her brat kids left the toys on the ground for me to pickup.
I price to sell for the most part not giving away my stuff for sure. I have an aluminum 7x8 open triton trailer not new by any means but VERY light use for 1500 bucks. New is around 2K or tad more, plus 2 spare tires brand new with 1 of 2 on spare rim. I will go down 1400 but no less will keep it much under that. Used beat up ones with bad decking are still asking 1 grand or tad more while the most expensive identical used one is 1700 which for 300 more i would buy new but 500 less IMO is reasonable if in very good shape.

Rams is pretty spot on. I’ve sold quite a few machines over the years. I will list a machine on both sites, Marketplace and Craigslist. Craigslist is $5 and has a very large reach and audience. Marketplace has a reach of about 150 miles, unless you know what you’re doing and then can expand it out. I never put my phone number in the system and will check for replies just once a day and call back that day. I have the potential buyers include a phone number and can weed out the fakes by area code pretty easily. And yes, price it reasonably, even something special and perfect. Best of luck.

i understand i have a very nice tourer as well it has been on here for a year and a half. A few inquaries but nothing serious, the price 2 grand less then yours. I just let it ride in the classified. Do not do facebook. I figured with the following here someone will have a friend or family member that is interested in a valk. It gets driven weekly, it is part of my trust to son # 3 to add to my old IS he has when I kick the buck.

Remembering that opinions are like belly buttons, they differ. I disagree with simply leaving a bike for sale only on here. Less exposure means less lookers. Not all lookers are buyers but, that's something one must be prepared to deal with. I would also suggest that the vast majority of riders on this forum know what a Valk, a really nice Valkyrie can be bought for. That's not to suggest the value of the bike in the initial posting but, it does seem a high to me. Then again, I've got three Valks sitting in my garage so, I'd only be interested in a really good deal. I believe that same thing applies to most of the folks on this forum. If, I was selling one of my Valkyries, it would be listed here but, not just here. Edited: For those enquirers that respond that the distance is too great, the seller might offer to meet in the middle or decrease the price to help pay for fuel. Fuel is expensive and going up in my neck of the woods. Rams

Yeah Dennis. I remember someone inviting a whole bunch of folks over to his place and only Oss, Bonnie and a dude from SF area showed up to meet you and Starlene Good luck on selling the bike and camper I really like the idea of letting that camper find a home with the cma ministry even if just on a loan basis, also you can raffle it with a minimum number of tix sold

NO I have not heard from him in many years BigMac posted on our board as recently as the end of June this year. He no longer owns a Valk nor rides long distance but he is still riding as of his recent posts.
