What we know is (by tradition) that the next InZane will be west of the Big Muddy.   Although admittedly, there are normally clues starting to leak out in the fall.

What I would suggest is that the passing of one of the family members on staff has probably slowed the decision down.

Oh, you were referring to the death of Mama's dad.  No, he wasn't involved with planning InZane.   blush

For a moment I was wondering if Psycho had passed and no one had told me.   Huh?

Having no idea what you may have heard, I can't honestly answer that.   But I can surmise the passing of a staff member's family causing some turmoil in the staffer's life.    Considering the timing, it kind of makes sense to me.   If I'm wrong, happy to apologize.

It's been slow going this year.  Mainly because, for some unknown reason, the visitor's bureaus have not been as helpful as usual.  With the economy what it is, it's been difficult to get decent hotel rates.  Of course, there has been some personal stuff going on as well.  We'll be going on the site visit soon.  We usually start dropping some hints once the site visit is planned.

I believe that we've put out that it will be West of the Big Muddy.

It will be east of the Pacific Ocean.  In fact, I can safely say, it will be east of California and the other western coastal states.

Unfortunately the hotel costs in the Hawaiian Islands are prohibitive and we have been unable to get anyone there to take us seriously for planning a significant motorcycle ride in.   Undecided

Ok, I'll throw ya another bone.  If GZ winds up where we are considering, our prestigious Serkle maker would ride less than 1200 miles from his home in Rowlett.

That's 1200 miles riding... not as the crow flies.  That leaves Idaho and Montana out.

Well.... The kind of map tool we're looking for is a driving radius map to show a circle from a point based on miles driven... I've found several paid tools to do this, and one free one, however the free one caps at 900 miles...

So.... if we could get a location that's within 900 driven miles of the potential maybe GZ I could generate a proper Serkle but as is...

Here's a image of how far one can ride on roads in 900 miles from Rowlett TX. This is NOT a Serkle! But, judging by the 1200 mile hint, I'm gonna guess the potential GZ is somewhere within an inch or two (On the map) outside of the orange blob (And unlikely in the Gulf of Mexico or Mexico.)

If I were feeling better I'd be all fancy and try to edit out everything east of the Missisloppy, but if ya' squint just right... Wink

Okay so this is highly unscientific, but just me doodling and noodling, I'm gonna guess the potential GZ candidate is somewhere within the area between the white line/orange blob and the crudely drawn red line. VERY unscientific though!

And just for comparison, here's a 1200 mile radius from Serkville as the crow flies. Not nearly as useful, although I can all but guarantee that if given correct info the potential GZ location is within the green circle....

I can't find the tool you were using, but since Mexico, the Gulf, and east of the Mississippi are excluded, if you draw 900 miles from Weatherford, Okalahoma you will be very close to a 1200 mile radius from Rowlett.

Now we can get a Serkle!

900 miles driving range from Weatherford, Oklahoma, with areas east of the Mississippi (Crudely) removed. I also took liberties and removed southern Texas because although it's beautiful there, it's also painfully hot...  Looks like I accidentally clipped a small potential area in North Dakota as well, but is what it is...

Serkle 1.0 for 2024:

And if anyone wants to play around, this is the tool I used to get the 900 mile driving radius from a point:

Dubuque Iowa. Pretty sure it can accommodate such a group and event. Is west of Miss. River. Nice easy enjoyable riding up and down the river roads that suit all riders. Lots of history. Many places of interests all up and down the river. Multiple States. Lots of stuff.

My guess.

InZane 2024 will likely be a state that we've not previously held an InZane event.

Geriatric Disney Land maybe? (Branson and surrounding areas)

Or some of the higher elevations in Arizona? Little Wyoming areas look interesting but would be a challenge finding facilities to meet our needs...

Oh, I know! New Orleans! New bike games "Dodge the Drive By!"

Given these parameters and that we'd be looking for motorcycle friendly roads---

Winona, Minn. Have accommodations for such an event. Just north of LaCrosse.

Davenport or Dubuque IA. Both along the Mississippi and both would have accommodations for such an event.

All above have the "Great River Road" in common.

Springfield/Branson area.

I'm still in for Dubuque.

Agreed but, we've held an InZane in AR.

I'm thinking Wyoming but, admittedly that's a SWAG.

So, the site we'll be visiting is closer to the Mississippi than was the previous InZane that was west of the Ol' Muddy.

I'm kinda spit-balling this one, but Billings is, by road, 712 miles from the reported headwaters of the Missisloppy in South Clearwater MN. Based on that, we don't narrow things down much but basically lose the sliver of Utah and Arizona as possibilities...

Per Serk's map that leaves just Iowa and Missouri. Iowa is where I discovered America...and the gentle sex. If in the right location, it would be a good place for a rally.
