Anyone who survives 50 years of (1) marriage deserves a big wonderful vacation. I mean no offense Digger, only humor. (My first was 3.5 and 2d was 20 yrs, and there will be no 3d.)

Maui is beautiful. I lived there through my High School years. My mom and brothers live there still while I’m half a world away here in Florida. Enjoy!

Congratulations your 50 year anniversary!
I was lucky enough to be stationed in Hawaii in 1972 while on the USS Patrick Henry (SSBN-599-Blue). I lived in the "dorms' (I guess that is the term) on Ford Island. No A/C. No hearing. Just open air areas with walls around the bunks we all slept in. It was a fun experience.
We toured the island of Oahu, that was fun, but it took us only a day. What I had the must fun doing was going to Hanauma Bay and doing some snorkeling. Lots of things to see.
Enjoy the tour.

Yesterday we drove the entire "Road to Hana".....620 curves and 59 bridges. Most curves were pretty radical and most bridges were 1 lane only. Lot of single lane roads that if you met oncoming traffic you had to find a spot you could inch by almost touching mirrors. Took about 4 hrs to drive it. Would love to drive it on my Valkyrie

You may know this road also.....from Kapalua along the coast to Waihee.... very curvy and mostle 1 lane road. When meeting oncoming traffic one of you had to back up a ways to a built in wide spot.

Today the road to Hana is very civilized compared to the 70’s when I lived there. Holy crap. Now it’s way more manageable.

Congratulations on 50 years. My wife and I are approaching 42 in June. I figure I'll get to Hawaii when they get the road/bridges finished.

Congrats on your half century! We did the Road to Hanna in ‘03 and ‘17. The 2nd run almost ended our marriage. When you finish your tour of Pearl Harbor, the Restaurant 604 is a good stop. If you’re so inclined, I can recommend their Bloody Mary.

Congrats on the 50th. I'm not certain if both of us will live that long, but we did celebrate 36 years in August. If you're into volcanos - do get over to the big island. We were there in '94 when we got to see red hot lava dripping into the ocean on a 2 weeks old black sand beach (we were standing about 20 feet away ).

Well...we went on the tour package out of Maui. Flew to Honolulu and met with the tour guide who picked us up and took a tour of Pearl Harbor. We went out to the Memorial....very interesting. Came back and watched a twenty minute or so folm with actual footage of the scene. Went around to the back side and did a tour of the USS Mussouri. Guide then took us on a short tour of Honolulu then back to the airport to fly back to Maui. Didnt have time to go to the aircraft museum. Maybe next time.
Funny story.....the guide was driving a small minivan. His name was Tim. Tim called me just as we were landing in Honolulu and says " where you guys at?". I replied that we had just landed and we were still on the plane and woukd be there shortly. Tim said ok just go down the escalator and turn left and walk to the end and come ouside to my van. Ok I says. Wife and I stopped and used the Restroom and went out the door and no one was there. Waited about 15 minutes and tried to call him to no avail. Im thinking "he has left us." Then I look up and here the van comes and Tim gets out appologizing and another young couple on the van are laughing out loud......seems after Tim talked to me while the wife and I was trying to get off the plane a couple came out of the terminal and Tim points at them and says "Terry?" They indicate yes and get on the van. A ways down Tim asks "We are ahead of schedule so would you guys like to stop at a doughnut shop and get something?" The customer Terry says "I dont know about eating anything....the hospital said not to eat the morning of the surgery"........Tim the guide realizes his mistake and takes the guy back to the terminal and then comes back around and picked us up.....ha
