It was developed mainly for the more elderly population that tends to hit the bathroom at all hours of the night. Thankfully I'm not one but Nancy is, I tease her about it by using a nickname: teaspoon Theresa! Referring to volume of course.

Oh, and the name of the new wine: Pino More!  Grin

I wouldn't mind peeing less often, but I don't want to pino more.  That stuff has to go somewhere.

What I have learned to smooth things out a bit is simply to limit my liquid intake at appropriate times (like before road trips, rides, shopping and esp hours before bedtime.  This was hard for me since I had hydrated large my whole life.  I still have to get up, but not 5-6 times, more like 2-3.

The other part of the plan is to avoid thinking about anything (at all) when getting up to pee.... just be a zombie, six steps to pee and and back to bed, and go right back to sleep.  This took some practice (for me).

I am so far not opting for the Euro Lift (where they zip tie your prostate away from the drain hole) (and BTW what a huge design defect this was in males).  The list of possible side effects and down sides to these less invasive procedures scares me.  Better the devil I know.  So far.

Sorry for drifting a humor thread to serious, but it is a subject affecting many of us (I think).

I take 900 mg (3 x 300 mg capsules) of gabapenton in an attempt to stay groggy enough to fall back asleep when I get back to bed. Yes - I have the "racing mind" syndrome - other Navy Vets will recognize it as "General Quarters" level alertness. I can still have restless nights when I wakeup at 0400 and cannot fall back to sleep for anything.

Some years ago my physician advised me that drinking no liquid after 19:00 would reduce or eliminate my need to urinate during the night.

Passing water through the body reduces unneeded sugar and washes toxins out of the body.

I tried his suggestion for awhile.  It worked but I later chose to ignore it and put up with pissing in the night to not bypass the benefits of adequate hydration.

Oh, I return to sleep easily.  I'm old that way.   Wink

Among many other pills I'm taking due to my recent status of being "medically interesting", I'm taking 3x300 Gabapentin three times a day... Can't tell that it does much though but afraid it is doing a lot and if I stop taking it things will get way worse...

This whole getting old thing isn't for the weak...

I had the Euro Lift done 2 1/2 years ago and it helped but wasn’t the answer. I’m good during the day but at night I still go a lot but then some nights maybe 2 times. The next step is to laser my prostate smaller but I didn’t think it’s worth the after effects.

If you're subject to seizures, or you suffer from neuropathy, those are the "on-label" purposes of gabapenton. I have some that pops in once in a while on my right thigh ( after effects of latest MC accident),  and the gabapenton (in a smaller dose - only 1 instead of 3) helps with the tingling / pins and needles effects. In the 900 mg dose , it acts like I've had a little too much alcohol, but without the hangover.
