I really got to get a life!

407 Curves between New Fairfield past Justin to Harvest: Currently under construction so avoid the section between New Fairfield and Justin until the new pavement is laid. I consider this a Sunday morning ride as it’s too easy to get buried in a line of cars being slowed by a truck pulling a trailer. If I’m doing this from West to East I always turn left on Florence immediately after the curves to avoid Harvest. From Florence you can head up to Old Justin or Robsen and head East on back roads  to the 1830 curves in Argyle or back West across 156 to the 1384 curves.

1384 Curves between 156 and Drop just north of Justin off 156 – Good road, good curves, no traffic, for a road to nowhere the location ties in great. It could be a good place to start your day when accessing  from  Northeast Fort Worth on 156. Take 1384 until it ends only about 5 miles, or cut off to the right, find Burnett and head up North behind Ponder to 2449 and go back to 156 at Ponder, or keep going up to Old Stoney and come out on 156 between Ponder and Kurm. Checkout the expensive real estate.  Back to the end of 1384. The pavement changes at the end 1384 sign, but the road continues as AA Bumgarner 4522 and will hit 2264 at New Fairfield. Right takes you to Decatur. So if I were going north on 156 planning on going to St Jo for the day, I would likely start at 1384 especially with 407 torn up. Head to the Decatur Square and pickup 730 north to 455 to Forestburg, 677 to St Jo. Back to the end of 1384. Make a left on Olive Creek (pretty road, views are great from the opposite direction, so try it the other way too). At the end of Olive Creek turn right on B Judge, Left on County Line Left on 407 puts you at the beginning of the 407 curves or quick right on County line takes to south to 114 back to 156 and Fort Worth.

1830 Curves 2 miles North of 407 on 1830. You can access these curves from 407, but as described above I tend to leave 407 immediately East of the 407 curves and go back roads hitting 1830 on the South end of the 1830 curves at the light at Hickory Hill Rd. I would typically go to the end of 1830 and left on 377 (backtracking South about a mile), right on Vineyard which becomes 2449 and takes you back to Ponder. For a short loop I might pickup Florence again just before Ponder and  run South parallel to 156 and due the above curves again. For the long loop I make a right off Vineyard (first light) Bonnie Brae and head for Denton.

Denton I ride to Denton a lot but typically only with a purpose. Generally I bypass Denton on 156 if I’m really going for a ride, unless I need to save time.  I like to pass through Denton on Bonnie Brae. The first the 4 way stop after University is Windsor, take a right on Windsor (or go to the end of Bonnie Brae and head West getting lost on the cool back roads North of Kurm). Continue on Windsor, making a left on Locust. Locust is my preferred route out of Denton to the North. If your starting at the Square in Denton just hop on Locust and head North. Locust becomes 2164 which takes us to our next set of curves. If I’m heading into Denton I prefer the one ways,  but I consider route safety selection to be a personal choice. So from Bonnie Brae I pass UNT on Hickory and Oak. From 377 on the North and South ends I use Hickory and Elm. I just weave through the pot holes.

2164 Curves The Curves start a few miles north of 288 loop. It’s easier to go to the end when doing the east lake loop, but I like to make a right on 2153 then third left is Running Bear you’ll come out at 455 by the Dam Store. Turn right and stay on 455 West all the way to Celina. 455 will merge and then split from 377 but it will go to Celina. While on 377 you can hop on 377 business and go into Pilot Point. Back to 2164, to take the West lake access North, I go to the end of 2164 and left on 455, right on Marion before you  get into Sanger. Take Marion to the end, left on Lois and right on the North Feeder of 35 up to 3002, which I consider the Southwest entry to the ride area between Ray Roberts and the Red River.

455 Curves   These are the tightest curves in this list. They also have the worst road surface so if your an aggressive rider proceed with caution, if it’s your first time. They run from Celina to Anna, but I often turn North at Weston on 3356 to Fm121. You can also take 5 north out of Anna to Van Alstyne and pickup Fm121 West. If I were heading East to Bonham / Paris and maybe doing the Broken Bow OK Arkansas  thing, I would head east on Fm121 to 160 to 56 to Bonham.  Back to North Texas and Fm121. Fm121 West through Gunther, to 377 north to 922 West at Tioga. This is what I consider the Southeast entry to the ride area between Ray Roberts and the Red River.

Access from 156 Proceeding North on 156 out of Kurm, take 2450 North to Bolivar. Rector and Sam Bass are really nice roads further up 156, but I don’t like crossing 455 at Sam Bass. On 2450 in Bolivar cross 455 at the 4 way stop. The first right is Chisom, make a right off Chisom on Nance, take Nance to the end, left on Sam Bass, right on Lois to the 35 south feeder. Go over the Lois Rd over pass and take the 35 North feeder to 3002, to enter the ride area between Ray Roberts and the Red River. Leaving from 3002 you go over 35 on the Chisom overpass , which you passed riding up the north feeder to 3002.

Ride area between Ray Roberts and the Red River – All of the roads are good here. Disco and I like 372 the best. Head out on 3002 which becomes 372.  I like to head through Kiow Lake through Collinsville to Whitesboro, but I like to take the long way up to 902 on 372 then go by the lake and 3164 and make a left on line road to 377 business and access Whitesboro the back way. My wife likes to eat at Lovejoys in Whitesboro. There are way too many great routes up here to describe.  678 between Gainsville and Gordonsville is nice. Cedar mills marina is a good place to eat on Lake Texoma if your riding double. You can keep going across the Red River and head up to the lodge at Lake Murray for an overnight stay.  I like to take 2071 south out of Gainsville to 922 East, right on Hemming takes you along the shallows back to the beginning  of the 3002 SW access. Roads to look for are 3002, 372, 922, 902, 678, 3164. Get lost,  have fun, stay  safe.

Awesome, thanks for sharing Pete! Need to map some out as a few different rides to check all these roads out. Need to meet up in Denton again, grab coffee and roll out for a few hours to lunch somehwere.
