Re. the title, sometimes being a constructor of them there proper like sentences just don't apply! But when I see a sentence with the words "woken up" written here on purpose, I don't feel so bad since mine was done as a joke.
Now to the story.....
My '08 Toyota Highlander was about to hit 100k miles, knowing it would most likely go nearly another 100k was not to my liking. I had bought the car new Labor Day of '07, first NEW car ever, and had owned it for the last 16 years. The car looked great, ran great, everything worked but...I was wanting something newer cuz I was just plain tired of it. My daughter & hubby recently found a 2016 Buick Enclave SUV with 37k on it, bought it from an elderly lady, car is fully loaded & paid $16k for it. I checked it out, it's a beautiful car and rides great. They also have a big Tahoe so hubby uses it in his work and mama gets the nice pretty Buick. (no surprise there) I was impressed by the car and told Nancy if I ever find a good one I'd be tempted to jump on it. Well, the good Lord knows the desires of your heart, so lo & behold a couple days ago I see a 2018 Buick Enclave pop up on my computer that somehow got past my ad- blocker. It's the Enclave Essence model and loaded with more trinkets than a child's toy box, priced in the upper $20k range and low miles. We drove out to check on it and were hooked after a test drive so got to talking serious with the salesman. After using my trade and some cash, we got it for an acceptable figure before they started adding all the extra fees and taxes. Since it will be used to tow the trike which is well within the cars capacity, I decided to pay for a 7 yr. driveline warranty. The car has not been abused but this gave a little extra security, knowing full well the dealer benefits from this but I didn't really care at this point. Although my old car was top of the line when I bought it in '07, it was like driving an oxcart when compared to the new one. We're happy, pleased with the choice and financial impact which will be easy to dispose of since I have a CD maturing next summer and plan to throw a few thousand at it to pay off ASAP.
Now, keeping in mind Nancy has lived in Green Bay since age 8, and her husband was a major real estate developer in years past...the people she knows blows me away. So while we're chatting with the salesman, she mentioned she knew the grandparents and parents of the current generation that runs the dealership. The salesman excuses himself for a minute, a couple minutes later in walks the third generation dealership operator and it suddenly is "old home week" in the sales department. Turns out the grandparents were neighbors of Nancy in years past, as were some other close family members, and she's known the 3rd generation since their childhood. It was kinda fun sitting back and listening to them reminisce. Now I guess we'll have to flip a coin to see who gets to use the one remaining stall in the garage...next to the trike. Will it be my Buick Enclave or Nancy's Audi...I think you all know the answer.
