No more Corvette plant tours after February 2nd 2024. No specific reasons given and no date for when or if they will resume. Minimum age to take the tour is 13. I would love to take my grandsons but they are just now 8 years old. The tours are only an hour long and they don’t show you everything but I found my last one to be a great experience. Just thought I would give everyone a heads up.

I grew up in (near) the Motor City, and never got a tour (never heard of them).
(At 16) we used to drive the Mobil Station truck down the street to a Chrysler engine plant at midnight on cold winter nights and get $2.50 per to jump start a dozen or more employee cars at shift change.

Asking or telling, either way you are correct. Of course the Corvette Museum is in operation across the way from the assembly plant and is just as interesting is a different sort of way.

Layoffs are coming to Trenton Engine this year it’s slated for closure very soon to make electric motors for cars that do not exist and people won’t buy. “let’s GO Brandon” !

I grew up (from 4th grade) on Grosse Ile, then moved home from college for 8 more summers (working at Great Lakes Steel to pay for school and stuff). The folks kept the home for years thereafter, but then moved first to Charlevoix, and then down to farm country south of Belleville where my brother has 30 acres on the Wayne-Monroe county line. Mom just had her 94th birthday. I visit every summer, but never in winter. How are you doing Gig?

Doing much better these days, Jess, thanks for asking. I’ve come a long way, trying to build up strength to my broken legs, looking out my window to the south now, across a corn field, could probably see Monroe from here. Not getting out much. Doing physical therapy at home trying to regain strength - they keep telling me I’m normal, but what do they know? Sorry for thread drift but what the hey….

Keep up the rehab Gig. Do something every day. The older we get, the longer it takes. "Normal for who? "

I’m afraid they are referring to - normal compared to many humans. Probably a result of traumatic brain injury- scary!
The past six months there’s been a restriction of no weight on my right leg, now it’s ok for some weight, so I’ve been starting to do the stairs with full weight on the right leg up & down. Therapist is coming this morning, we’ll see what he thinks about me working on the stairs.

Often, our body tells us what is OK or not.
But I'd probably follow Dr/Therapist's advice on wt bearing on a resolving fracture(s).
Six months into walking 2-3 miles nearly every day (building strength and losing weight), I developed a weird 'bubble-wrap' peripheral nephropathy of both feet. It uncomfortably (and occasionally almost painfully) feels like I'm walking on bubble wrap in my shoes (from toes to mid foot). I didn't quit walking. I saw the internist and the podiatrist; nothing can be done (gave me expensive B complex vitamins that did nothing). I still go nearly every day, but early mornings after a night off my feet is better than later in the day. This was perfect in VA's hot summer, but now it's cold as hell at sunup (and it turns out the cold makes it worse). So I wait for it to warm up a bit.
My feet protest, but I walk anyway, and it isn't making it any worse (or better).
This aging thing sucks the big one.

I used to take a lot of supplements. But no calcium (in any multivitamin) because of kidney stones, and magnesium for that (which absorbs calcium). I never had another stone (thank goodness).
A while ago, I had just a little borderline HBP, so I got a small dose of Losartan Potassium for that, but after my daily exercise, weight loss and much improved diet, HBP and the pill went away. That med made me dizzy with occasional vertigo with any exertion, and I hated it. I've never had a sugar problem (DM), often associated with peripheral neuropathy.
I now take no supplements or vitamins (except fruit, vegetables, and a healthy diet).
I'm not anti-supplements and vitamins, but I have to be convinced I'm not just producing expensive urine.
