While we reserve judgement until we can run a couple of tanks through the fat lady, Joe got 32 mpg on the way home from the party. Amazing what a petcock, vacuum lines to the petcock and valves, and a new air filter can do. A heartfelt thank you to all the Dave's at the party (and the others, too)! it was great to hang out, kick a few tires, tell a few tales, and get some valuable work done.

It was great to take a break today.  Thanks Dave for hosting the wrench party.  I hope everyone made it home safe and sound and got to warm up.  I took some pictures and here is a link to them.

Hard core wrenchers on a hard freeze Saturday!
Man!  It never got outa the 40s.  BUT, being the die-hard Valkers that we all are, that didn't slow down any of the attenders.
Dave (Valkpilot) and Doc809 had already started their projects by the time Dave (Frisco Dave aka: B.A.D.) and I got there (around 8:00 am).   These guys were serious!
As the rest of the group drifted in, the different participating wrenchers were at various stages of completion.  Some (that would be me), needed more help than others.
All-in-all, besides getting overdue projects done, everybody was thawed out enough to throw a few jabs at each other AND, if you weren't there, you may have been the target of one or two!

AGAIN, thanks to everyone for helping me and Dave for hosting.

P.S.
    Projects completed:
                                 Headlight/starter mod
                                 Petcock rebuild
                                 Vaccuum lines replaced
                                 Flasher switch replaced
                                 K & N filter cleaned and recharged
                                 Hall pass used up

It was cold on the way over and back, and whatever warmth enjoyed during the day was not weather-related.

Thanks for having us over for a play date, VP.  I look forward to hearing ride reports about your new brakes.  So, was the rear a PITA?  Let us know when you plan to swap out the front brake and clutch lines.  We ought to be able to knock those out in time for a lunch (or dinner) ride to Ponder.  If you need a hand, I'll try to be available for assistance / learning curve for my future swap-out.

I know I've said it before, but is sure is nice to have a Valkyrie-riding electrical engineer in the group.  Thanks, godfire, for continuing to share your time and expertise.

It was great to have Baron (cage, but he has ridden the Shadow post-op!) and JC (heated seat, heated grips, ottoman, TV tray, swirling massage jets, etc...), and Sidecar there for camera work, hands-on assistance, and camaraderie.  Thanks to Baron and JC for their emergency parts runs.  It was a HUGE HELP!  And Joe, what other emergency parts run preventing items do you have in your bags?

Really glad to hear the preliminary reports from Doc, Joe, and Tom and to know Thalas'shaya's trailer lighting is functioning properly.

Hall pass tattered and worn...

We bit off a little more than we could chew on my bike and didn't get finished. But, I did get new rotors and pads all around and the SS braided brake line installed on the rear.  Rear brakes have never been better.

SS lines on the front and all the vac lines will have to wait.

Here's a few pics Nikki took when no one was looking:

Mad props to Godfire for troubleshooting my trailer lighting and teaching me a few things about the electrical system that I didn't know before.  I have lust in my heart for a butane-powered soldering iron, now.

Incidentally, I got home from lunch (where we had burgers and fries, but no pies, at RG Burger) and told Rose in no uncertain terms that I was getting a gol-danged pair of heated gloves.  I was comfortable everywhere but my hands.  I just can't seem to get enough layers and wind protection in that one spot.
