We got snow in the KC area that stayed for awhile.  We are accustomed to seeing snow fall but be gone in just a few days.

There are exceptions.

It's still WAY TOO COLD for me and wife.

Snow I can deal with  - these single digits and colder (actual temps - windchills in the -15 through -40) I just DO NOT LIKE AT ALL !!

We got a light dusting on Monday... Enough for them to cancel school on Tuesday, even after it melted, for some reason...

And inexplicably, the triplets first thought when they saw it snowed, was to hop on the trampoline...

It’s still snowing in central Kentucky and I know 150 miles south of me (Knoxville area) they have even more snow than us. We stay in the deep freeze until early next week. We have about 3-4 inches and none of it is melting.

I'm a snowmobiler and we like the snow a$$hole deep to a tall giraffe. And the colder it is the better the older free air sleds run.

My first sled was a Yamaha free air. I think a 338 or 351. It was fast.  Smiley

We had 13.5" in the Green Bay area, on top of approx. 6" just few days prior. Had four different snowfalls in a week, I'm sooo glad I moved here. Nothing like living in Florida 53 years then moving to Wisconsin and freezing my ass off the majority of the year. Summer was great...all three days.  Angry

We now have a problem, I hate this place and Nancy won't move away. Undecided

No snow for us in central Alabama. We got down to 11° one night. It’s supposed to be in the teens again tonight and tomorrow night. It should warm up here early next week, but then it’ll rain.

Traveling south on I 55 on Tuesday of this week from Millington, TN, it was one lane (snow and ice covered roads) from Millington, TN to 80 miles north of Jackson, MS.   That one lane was still packed snow and ice where the interstate was in the shade but was pretty much clear if, the sun had gotten to that lane.   Saw a lot of cars, pickups and semi-tractor trailers in the ditches and crashed.   Most of the trip was carefree but, got behind quite a few vehicles with drivers who were being overly cautious and driving at less than 25 mph.   Don't get me wrong, it's always good to be cautious but, when there is a line behind you of 20 or more vehicles, that may mean you're being overly cautious or, shouldn't be out on the roads.

N/E Illinois. I wonder how I worked outside the last 35 years of my social security stockpile. I was a heavy truck / equipment mechanic. I was also involved in water main breaks. Some years we even had frozen sewer lines.  I helped make some people wealthy. They got the money and I got a worn out body.

Was checking in with a friend in SE Kansas a few days ago, he said his mom's home sewer line froze up past the clean out and flooded the house, ruined carpets and a lot of flooring.   Said it took him and a plumber about 12 hours to get the line cleared.   I was surprised this happened because those sewer lines a buried three feet deep but then he told me some of the dirt covering it has washed out and the line was only covered by a few inches of soil in one spot.   The sewer line was frozen from that spot back to the house.

When I had my home renovated, I made the contractor bury my water lines at least four feet deep.   Was told no one down here in MS does that.   Well, my lines may freeze before where I tied on to the water lines but, they won't from that point on.

No snow here but the temps have been in the teens this morning.  Yesterday was a little warmer but very windy.

Regarding snowmobiling.   My wife is from Minnesota.  We were married in her hometown in December.  So, I was there during some "snowy" times.  She had two sisters and three bothers. And, since she lived-in a small rural town, they had a snowmobile, and I got to take if for a ride in the big yard behind her house.  And yes, I had never, ever ridden one before.  Nor one since then.

Water and sewer lines are 6’ under in Wisconsin. We bury them for the dead of winter.

When we lived in NC, 6 inches was considered "deep" for water lines.

KS frostline is 32 inches.

Sewer lines are normally warm to hot. Cold lines are caused by lack of use , or to much plain water .
The line will stay warm from the main if properly installed. Incorrect pitch (low or high spot) can cause a lot of problems. To much pitch , liquid flows , solids stop. To little pitch , pipe blocks and  tickedoff tickedoff.

The first two weeks for January we had winter.  (it was missing for Nov/Dec).  The snow machine dropped over 24" of white in two storms.   Plus a few more inches in squalls in-between the two major ones.  Temps were not that bad, teens at night low 30 during the day.  Since then, we have had rain.  Lots of rain.  Right now, they are projecting the next 5 days it will rain.  Some flooding on the Coast.  It is taking the snow off the yards. El Nino is really having an unusual effect on us.

At least don't have to shovel rain.   BUT watch out to the East of here, moisture is a coming.

Went for a ride with wife with the top down on the car. Wow beautiful today, 66 and sunny, had the bike out riding to work almost everyday this week although it rained a few days.

One night went to sleep and the temp was about 65 woke up in the am and it was like someone turned on the heat it was 80. That was really strange to open the door and have such a temp change from one time to the next.

So I guess it only got colder down here, that answers the question.

something strange is going on.
every very early march past 30 yrs, I get flocks of birds and esp flocks of robins on my property, strangely they all showed up end of last wk right before a six inch snow fall with temps in teens.

Over the years here in NoVA, I've very occasionally had big flocks of Robins in winter.

They'll swarm my big Nellie Stevens hollies and eat all the red berries (and sh!t all over the place).

I mostly like Robins.

So, based upon a few replies it sounds like the evil white stuff got as far south as the Dallas/Fort Worth area but was mostly dumped whee people are accustomed to sometimes seeing it.  It looks like we here are pretty well finished with the frozen precipitation for awhile and we are expected to go into melting temperatures during the next week or so.  The snow seems to be melting but for the piles left by the plows.  My heart goes out to my friends further north where this stuff stays for months.

I am looking forward to the arrival of hot weather.

Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Single digits last week with several inches of snow.  Ice and freezing rain in the river valley and NW Ar. last night and this morning.  Everything was covered in ice this morning.  We got lucky Maybe 1/8".  Way better than expected 1/2" ice.  Temps are warming up now and melting it.  One more month then it will probably be 80 degrees.   I'm ready.

Peace, Ron.

The roads were still damp with melt and treatment was still there.  Not a good night to ride.
