I got a question.

I have a  "Ring" doorbell that alerts my cell phone if there is movement at my front door and sends a short video of what it is IMMEDIATELY.

Soooooo....why is this not available on new vehicles?   If my car alarm goes off and Im in a restaurant or hardware store...etc...why cant the alarm send a pic and a notice IMMEDIATELY that my vehicle is being compromised to my cell phone?  Would cut down on vehicle theft....however it would probly increase the number of theives getting shot.

I'm sure some do just this, but the difference is the Ring doorbell is able to utilize your home WiFi network, something similar on a vehicle would require a cell phone data connection to do the same, and all the extra costs of a cell phone subscription as well... (Monthly costs, not a one time cost to purchase the equipment.)

Yeah I think those systems DO exist- not something I’m interested in though
I figure once a scumbag breaks in and plants his asset on my car seat it’s now his I no longer want it and don’t care what he looks like, not interested in getting the car back,  I have insurance for a reason. With 40 years automotive testing experience I know better than to have a Korean import that does not require a key to drive away

Ok... while not the same thing (but close) I have used this device (and still do) on two bikes.  My ST1300A and my Goldwing.

It works.  Has reasonable range and has a couple of options.

As far as range goes, if I can see the bike from my motel room window, I am in range.

In my house, I am about 50 feet from the bike in the garage and I am in range.

I purchased this after my ST got "moved" one night by someone I think was a disgruntled friend of a young lady I was acquitted with.

Meet the SRX Hands-free motorcycle alarm

Like I said one of the units I have is right at 12 plus years old.  It still works although the disloyal (LCD I think) has some issues but, I can still turn the alarm on and off and get alarms from the unit.

It allows for both motion (i.e. bike on side stand is move to a vertical position as well as proximity alerts.

Don't know how good it would be for a car but its an option.

I’m not interested in meeting the thieves. My new car has Star Link, free for a short time. I haven’t activated it. Same with Serious satellite. Bike is the same thing. If you are really concerned about theft add trip interruption to your policy.

You can get a ring for the car that does exactly what you want. It uses cell phone connection alerts you and gives you video. It also records while on the road. You can even tune into the car while driving but requires a cell subscription.

It will without a cell subscription record and you can view at your house while on wifi or anywhere that has WiFi.

Was thinking about getting one, and have not checked into the cost of the cell subscription. It may be the same as a watch that would be around 10.00 a month.

On the more advanced alarms they can send you a warning but the distance is limited for all the reasons stated.

 Car Cam
$249.99

Get on-the-go LTE connectivity for your Car Cam to get real-time alerts, use Live View, Two-Way Talk, and other features2, with a Ring Protect Go subscription, sold separately.
