Of course there will never be another valkyrie not the one made in 2014 and 2015 but the originals  made from97 to 03.  If they could have only updated that one a little man that would have been really something.  Love that my standard has no tech nothing no gear indicator  no fuel gauge no abs no nothing all this tech sometimes is a little overwhelming and hate the key fob thing.  Amazing to me that a bike that has been largely forgotten has a week long rally every year in a beautiful riding area and consistently 250 to 300 people show up. ride safe.

Yeah, it would still be an iconic bike to this day with the style intact and occasional upgrades. Even going to a chromed out 1800 in the iconic Valkyrie style.

Even now, particularly the Standards and Tourers with the "open" chromed out engine area, are showstoppers. Even compared to current day Harleys.

I think where the problem is with the Valkyrie, from a marketing perspective, is that it is an intimidating looking bike. Back in the day I'm sure a lot of folks loved the look but were scared of it's beast like appearance and thought it too big and powerful even though it handles like a big pussy cat.

Back in the day I'm sure a lot of folks loved the look but were scared of it's beast like appearance and thought it too big...

That was exactly my impression of the first couple I ever saw.  I'm like... "that thing is a monster, and if I ever drop it, how in the world would I ever lift it back up? "

Some years later I had two Interstates, and I managed to lift them up several times, but it wasn't something I enjoyed.  Hadn't done it in many years, and then last year it happened again, and a good Samaritan helped me out.   Grin

Thanks buddy.

Well I stood on my brakes unexpectedly, and I saw you dump it to avoid hitting me in back, so it's the least I can do.

(My motto is:  No matter what, It's always your own fault.)

It would have been nice if Honda would have kept the original Valkyrie beyond 2003 with upgrades comparable to the new Valkyrie like the 1832cc fuel injected engine but kept the look close to the same.
I bought a new 2001 Shadow 1100 and with no test rides allowed and asked him if it had close to the same power as a V65 Magna since both were listed as an 1100 he said yes but I found out quickly that he was wrong. The dealer gave me the full purchase price back on it swapping for a new 2001 Standard.
I wasn't liking the look at that time but after riding off the lot and twisting the throttle I was amazed at the power and handling plus it didn't take long for the look to grow on me.
I kinda understand why it didn't achieve the success it should have. From my experience of buying my first Valkyrie it kinda falls under the old saying don't judge a book by it's cover because my initial look at the Valkyrie I saw a Mack dump truck but after riding It just a few miles I realized there was a Porsche underneath.
In my opinion the original Valkyrie is the most comfortable best running and handling motorcycle I have owned to this day.

still remember around 2008 or so looking to get back into cycles after a 10 year hiatus reluctantly sold with wife telling me so sell my 1984 honda magna in 1998 when 1st kid born.  did NOT want to since nothing wrong with it sold for 1500 bucks still some 25 years later get 1500 for it today if I had it or more than likely my 23 year old would be driving it.

Anyways, wandered on into my local honda dealer nearby, now no longer around, and saw a barn find 2001 black I/S dust all over it literally a BARN find some old guy had it not driven much only like 26K miles on it or so.  Was a tad cold blooded not running awhile, but was VERY hesitant on if I could handle it  being so BIG and me not riding a cycle for 10 years.  After 2-3 miles I was like this is so EASY to handle even did on a skinny rural road turnaround a UTURN had me worried but did it surprisingly.  Got for 8K which at the time I thought decent deal.  Dealer had a honda vtx1800 sitting in showroom floor but never even bothered test driving that one was sold on the ease of handling, power delivery, and oooh sooo smooth.

Have NEVER figured Where the weight went after easing out the clutch and gittin her rollin. And twisting the throttle IS AMAZING!  cooldude And just thinkin about leanin into a curve just happens! Sometimes triple digits just show up.  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.
