between many things in life. Seldom are things black and white. An example of this occurred yesterday for me. I’ve been working on the outside of our house recently. It’s an old, rundown place, with a lot needed. Yesterday I was residing an addition that previous owners had put up years ago. The sun is pretty hard on stuff here, and it has needed it for a while. I’ve become slower, fatter, and weaker since my retirement 3 and a half years ago. What should take one day now takes three.
We live near an elementary school. It used to seem a hindrance having it near and having to slow down on the way to work and such. But over time I’ve come to realize how it’s nice seeing youngsters come and go, and all the social interactions between them. Yesterday as I was out painting the new siding recess was in process at the school. It’s pretty cool hearing them play and goof around. But every once in a while I’d hear what sounded like 8year old girls being murdered. Only to soon be followed with laughter and giggling. And it dawned on me that we can’t always assume what our eyes and ears are telling us. As I continued working this scenario would keep playing out. It was quite rewarding to hear kids enjoying life, and their innocence.

Luckily I’m old and slow to the point that I couldn’t get to the phone to dial 911 before laughter and frivolity resumed. Maybe there is something to be said for losing a step or two.  Smiley

Rob,

Appears you could be coming down with growing wisdom! Like you, I've noticed that puzzling phenomenon of how often the facts remain the same but my interpretations of them change!!! Life's experience has a lot to do with that, I think... Of course, losing a step or two can play a significant role in that, as well... I'd say you're turning into a fine geezer...  cooldude

Randy, you are a better man than I. By the time I was financially in a good enough position to retire I had had enough of the politics and incompetence in the workplace. Work was definitely good for my physical well being. My mental well being, not so much. I should exercise more, but I’ve never been into that. Brenda and I try to walk daily, but I admit to be sporadic on that.

Good post Rob.  Few things bring me more joy than little ones actually out and playing like little ones.  Much better than seeing them with their heads buried in their phones and thumbs a flying.

We have an elementary school near us too and often hear the kids playing outside for recess when it’s nice out. It’s fun to hear.

Wow, can't believe it's been 3.5 years!

You forgot to add "and added some facial hair" Smiley

You're lucky to be able to enjoy the youngsters laughter.

Doctors, 98valk and Bret SD, can help you with those conditions.

Nothing better, or more interesting, to do in the off season anyway.

I had a “milestone” birthday last week; but due to unforeseen circumstances, I have not worked ( my job)
Since May 26, 2023, man, my life has drastically changed- I spend a lot of time now trying to figure out if I am retired…
I should probably get with Randy & Roger to make a plan for my physical & phinancial well-being  coolsmiley :

Yeah that was the plan  cooldude maybe you can call her…. thanks
Roger is the go-to financial guy
Was wondering about your non retirement plans - mine are rapidly changing  due to boss lady reticence of leaving her adult “children” also alone for 10 minutes. Makes long-distant travel to BLM and state parks out west difficult.
