I was waxing the I/S and glanced at the VIN tag. It said 2/99. It just hit me the Mother ship is 25 years old. It qualifies for antique plates here. I've had her for 20 years now and she's still the best bike I've ever owned. It will probably be on my estate sale someday.

I'd looked into Antique tags here in Missouri BUT yer ONLY allowed a certain number of miles each and Those Miles MUST be Logged and turned into the state!  Lips Sealed So I'll just tag the soon to be here 88 GW Trike as a M/C. What ever number of miles wuz allocated Would Be blown THRU in less than a decent days ride!  tickedoff Yuppers my 99 I/S qualifies too!  coolsmiley Given that 25 year span I are a tripl antique wurkin on the 4th one!  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.

Well here in Florida there’s good and bad about antique tags. They bumped it up to 30 years. That’s the bad news. The good news is once you get an antique plate there’s no restrictions limitations ,reporting or  any other reason not to get what they automatically issue after 30 years.

The car qualified, the bike has  a few years to go.

Here in AZ, copper plates can be issued at 25 yrs. State charges $25 per year extra over the normal charges. No mileage restrictions.

In Texas it's based on model year, so I switched my '98 over to Antique plates last year... Some discussion on it here:

https://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,124736.0.html

Year later, zero regrets. Only a few hundred miles have been put on the Valk, I do ride her periodically but mostly the 'Wing lately. Few things need doing and I'm just too lazy to do the things so just around town rides for now...

20 years here in WI no mileage limits, no reason NOT to get them.  I have them on 2 of my cycles 1997 and 1998, but could also get antique plates past few years for my 2001.  Saves money in the long run for registration.

Took my antique out with one of the triplets on the back yesterday... Gave her a quick wash (The bike not the triplet) and ran some errands... Looking pretty good for an antique, if I do say so myself! (The bike, not me.)

Yep, 30 yrs and back. This tag is year correct on my Stingray. In FL back in the day you bought a tag every 2 years. Also, the first number of the tag was the county were registered and # reflected population. My friend told me that his mom kept every tag she ever owned. So he sent it to me. I had to then send it to the State for authentication. Approved and sent back to me. Tag was in excellent condition. Don't see many original tags on correct year vehicles.  smitten

Indeed... KK, the girl of the triplets (And the one on the back of the bike here), is 5'6" now (And the tallest, a fact she LOVES to literally hold over her brothers. But she knows it's just 'cause girls hit puberty first and they'll soon rocket past her.)

That gouge is from when Kali wrecked the bike in West Virginia a few years back. Insurance gave me more than enough money to get totally new saddle bags and have them painted to match the bike even if I wanted; I've intentionally left it as a badge of honor... and a reminder...
