Joe, Mike, Ronnie... others So this talk about a meetup in North Georgia sounds good. I can do Sunday or Friday, but not Saturday. Any takers for Sunday? Where do you think, Joe - Blairsville, Hiawassee, Clayton? I'm open. Thumper - are you game for Sunday? This is from Joe's FCR:

It basically makes sense for me to enter Georgia at Toccoa or Clayton, the roads that I know through Clayton are the most fun. One fun looking route that I could take would land me near Helen in about two hours. It's a half hour or 45 minutes to Brass Town Bald from there... Does this route intersect anyone's else travels? http://tinyurl.com/yjobonj <--- google map link -Mike

Coming up from Atlanta, I/we could meet about anywhere in N GA. I was trying to come up with a place to meet where it wouldn't be too tough for y'all coming from TN, NC and SC. Helen is easy from Atlanta. On the other hand, Mike if you stay on 76, you could probably get to Hiawassee in about the same time... Helen does get a lot of biker traffic. On nice weather days, or int he fall, it gets really congested. Clayton is cool, not sure where to eat there... Let's hear from Ronnie and Joe; what do y'all think? ???

Dillard House is just up the road. Bloody hell. Sunday lunch is $23.95 There's a diner in a converted gas station. Turn left as you come into downtown Clayton from the west on 76. Dillard House is just up the road. Bloody hell. Sunday lunch is $23.95 Leftovers from the Dillard House make for a full meal the next day! At the Dillard House: Next day: You wouldn't want to eat at the Dillard House before 2:00 or 2:30 though, unless you like standing in line more than you like riding motorcycles... Us "locals" (I'm a card-carrying Dillard House approved local) get $5 off... -Mike

Tennessee people are going to have the hardest time getting to North Georgia... have to leave early and it will be below freezing until 9 or 10 am... they ought to show up Saturday afternoon -Mike

The Old Clayton Inn right in the middle of town has an all you can eat buffet for about half the price of the Dillard House....and I think they are open on Sundays.....right where old 441 and Hwy 76 meets.....on Main Street..... I'm not sure what my plans are for Sunday....Valentine's day....I may be able to jump in there somewhere..... A ride around the lakes, Hwy 197, down Warwoman road to Hwy 28 back up into Highlands, NC...all good roads, BUT.....they had a couple of inches of snow up there in the last couple of weeks and I'm not sure how much sand/salt/gravel will be in the curves.....

You will be missed, Ronnie. Hey Joe, does Clayton work for you? I'd have to cross The Great Smoky Mountains in order to do a " lunch " meet in Clayton, Georgia the Smoky's has over a foot of snow right now with more on the way. Hwy.441 has a rock/mud slide on The Spur between Pigeon Forge and Galtinburg I'd have to deal with also .I have no doubt Hwy.441 is covered in salt across Newfound Gap into North Carolina ...... I'll pass on this ride y'all be careful.

Mike M - are you still in? Depending on how cold... I'm in. Joe and Ronnie are out. Popcorn, maybe. It seems I stole the idea from Joe and Mike and feel bad about that. I called Joe, he may have Presley plans. Me and my butting in, sorry dudes. Joe suggested the Mexican place right at Warwomen Rd in the Days Inn for lunch in Clayton. If you think you might ride, pipe in here.

No " sorry " needed Duffy in fact I dig it when folks get involved wanting to ride. With all the nasty salt on the roads I'm passing. Besides as I told you on the phone I plan on taking little Presley up to Gatlinburg and letting her swim in the headed pool at the motel.Y'all ride safe

Watch out for ice in the shade. On my bus rotue there's a couple of shaded areas that stay frozen all day.

If you think you might ride, pipe in here. How about this: We meet up at http://www.oldclaytoninn.com/ at 1:00 for lunch... then we could ride west on 76 and go south on 197... we'd be riding in the "heat" of the day, everyone could probably get home by dark... I'd peel off down at Clarksville, or maybe even Burton Dam Road if anyone else wanted to... they say it will get up to 50 in Clayton on Sunday, but I don't know anything about salt or sand or ice on those roads... -Mike

I'm out (meaning not riding) - still freezing and lots of snow still on the ground. I am sure the roads are a mess with salt or dirt or whatever. Spring has got to be coming soon, right? Warm thoughts to all:
