have now looked and driven 4x's all over 100 miles one way away to look at all 2007 or 2008 toyota tundras with around 150K to 190K miles on them all having issues, 3 of 4 at stealerships lying to me on condition. The private party one was most legit to buy but most miles at 198K miles and best condition by far.
Dealers lying to me: 4wd does not work, SMOKING BADLY vehicles, power seat or windows not work, and the list goes on and on such as SEVERE rust or missing parts on trucks, all lies just to get me to waste 6 hrs total driving time on weekends.
My kid wants a used truck in that 11-12K range, but thinking we have to go NEWER say 2010 to 2014 with same 150K miles and hope they in better condition stepping up to 13-15K top end in price?
LAST dealer was this Saturday driving 3 hours into Chicago IL sales guy big black dude 400lbs. named DEVON assured me NON smoking and power seat and power windows work and 4wd works. WRONG. power seat not work unable to adjust barely got in the darn thing and SMOKING vehicle for sure. I chewed his _utt out in front of customers before leaving in disgust back to WI some 3 hours back. I HATE driving in Chicago downtown area took me NO JOKE 45 minutes to go ONLY 20 miles.
NOT want to get into a pissing match on what truck is better Toyota, Dodge, Chevy, Ford. but I expect even mom/pop dealers to NOT lie to me AFTER informing them I am driving 3 hours one way and demand the truth on a few items required to be honest on.
I did test drive one more today local a 2007 toyota tundra, really wanted to see what the old 4.7L V8 would be like vs. the POWERFUL 5.7L V8 I am use to. NOT bad at all, not super torquey, but fast enough and will pull enough for my kid who is looking for a truck. I was expecting it to be sluggish and too slow, was not the case at all, was adequate to drive daily. I am now going to start searching all engine choices 4.7L V8 old school 4 speed tranny, 4.6L V8 and 5.7L V8 6 speed trannys being newer with timing chain, since I think all are fine engines/trannies. Only thing I know the old designed 4.7L V8 should have done is timing belt and water pump replaced around every 100K miles or so. Sorta shocked I think the older 4.7L V8 is only rated at 285hp while the 4.6L V8 newer is rated at 310hp and my personal choice loosing 1-2 mpg is all is the torquey and 381hp engine, but even the 4.7L V8 was sorta snappy enough off the line for me..

Try extending your search to AZ. Most used ones are in good shape and no rust.

I traveled to Houston to buy my Titan which now has 205,000 miles and no rust, and I traveled to Oklahoma City to buy my Corvette. If I were looking for a solid used Tundra that’s 15, 20 years old it would have to have spent it’s life south of the Ohio river, the further the better. I think your search thus far is telling you the same thing, practical or not.

yah, that one in Chicago has pretty severe frame rust enough to I touch any part and can flake off the rust easily. I expect some surface rust, but even the leaf springs the rust was raised up all over that touching it could take the first layer of metal right off with my fingers.
Now, the one (both 2007 tundras) northern WI was originally from Calilfornia and still had black frame showing very minor frame rust, but the body was not enough in good shape to buy it and some internal parts like even plastic pull out cupholders would NOT pull out to use them. It drove well, best one of them all, at 177K miles, and had good brakes and 4wd worked, but no power drivers seat and one of worst body shapes one have seen. Rear tailgate was all smashed in, missing rubber top black plastic snap in piece, and 3 foot long dent in passenger front door in middle about 3 inches deep with a gouge down that dent someone ran into something solid in that one spot and took paint off and dented that passenger front door pretty bad.
Being from California as well as 2007 with 177K miles, the entire paint off the hood was peeling badly from SUN damage so even from down south in AZ or even California in higher heat conditions, the paint could be in very bad shape as well.

I'd be willing to pay a premium to get one with this option factory installed: https://twitter.com/i/status/1775719690876125230(This is not a serious post. Well, it is, but not in the sense of finding a vehicle for OP. Or maybe it is?)
