so the Boss and I have been in Siesta key since last Saturday having a great time, starting tomorrow we had a vrbo reservation in Singer Island for a week

Yesterday we get a call, the VRBO has cancelled and refunded our card  WTF  what are we supposed to do  No explanation  What in the world?  The boss had a meltdown.
it was 430pm
I had to do that Oss stuff

I walked to the office of this place to see if anything available  nope !
Then I googled and called several places  nope
Then I called the Siesta Key chamber of commerce and got 2 numbers
the first was no joy the second... Ascendia, at 455pm was yes!  we booked a place at the end of the key

When the confirming email came in oh love a duck, it was for 10 days, (not 7 as we have a reservation the following week south of Ft Meyers) We went to dinner downtown, such as it is and saw the Ascendia office and a light was on spoke to Lauren who is the manager she said call 9am we will fix it

At 905am I called and she told me management declined our rental because they need 10 day notice
Ok so what else can you do  She got us a 1br for25% less about 1/2 mile from here across from
what may be the #1 beautiful beach in this country  The sand is like powder (think Grand Cayman)

I just signed the contract

So when deep doodoo happens keep a positive attitude and remember 90% of winning is showing up to the fight and you miss 100% of the shots you dont take  Also always try to be gracious in your manner
because folks are helping YOU because they want to do so

Sorry Robert, wont see you this year,

So Evan, you get like a month of vacation (at one time)?

During my schooling and working life, that never happened (not even the year I hung out my own shingle and starved  Grin).

Since I retired, I can do what I want.  As long as it's not too expensive.

11 weeks off this year  Next year will be 16  weeks as I ease into retirement kind of mode

but it is not really off  I worked 2 hrs last night and 2 already (well it is raining all day) today preparing retainers and notices for new clients  We bring 2 laptops, a printer and scanner

When my office is called I get an email on the computer and I call back even from the beach

That way I get almost 100% of the callers to sign up  And yes I tell them I am on the beach and out of the office but no worries we can do it

I have someone covering my lt cases  (4 yesterday- 4 the day before)  I tell him what to do and he does it
everytime

Evan,

Appears to me you have a well thought-out retirement plan that affords you a gradual easing into your new life with a fair and thoughtful way to ease away from obligations to all of those who depend upon you for professional service... Just the sort of fair-minded plan I would anticipate from you! I salute you for that plan, my friend, and I wish for you much success as you move towards your richly deserved rewards for always striving to 'do the right thing' for all concerned.

Next time, try a place called Little Palm Island, its a great retreat only accessible by boat and the food is awesome.

Sorry wont get to see you but I am jealous of the plans. Being in Florida though would probably head to the mountains.

Bless you brother and enjoy your travels, you and your other half.

same, but my wife has it much worse.  She has like 17 days vacation from LAST year she will not be using up end of April suppose to be used.  Sorta hard to take off when MUST DO daily jobs MUST get done and NO ONE else is either there or capable of doing them correctly.  Yes, it is a higher up mgmt/supervisor issue since her manager/supervisor, is uncapable of doing my wife's job.  Recently her boss hired a right out of college guy whom she is suppose to train on part of her job anyways, will see how that goes?

I had 4 vacation days MUST use up before April 1st from last year, so used all 4 up past 2 weeks.  Sorta nice can get use to working 3 days per week, loved it, wish it was part time like that All THE TIME.
