First, I'd like to thank all the members of this board for their contributions that helped me make this bike my own. Without you all, I would have spent a lot more coin, time and blood getting this amazing bike to where it is. When I first posted and was asking questions, I realized I needed to be educated. So I read, read, read. All the info is there, I just needed to find it. I met a local guy on here too and he downloaded a lot of info in person and on the phone. Thanks Chuck

Among all the preventative maintenance that is emphasized, such as all fluids replaced, OEM air filter and final drive service. Anything that needed attention, was done. I de- smogged, added an elecric fuel shut-off, did a headlight upgrade thanks to Mark T. I chose that route as opposed to an LED, for now. But I did notice the protective coating coming off the lens. It had been there when I got the bike, so I'll be looking for a replacement lens. I don't ride at night a whole lot. But it seems much better with the 80/100 watt bulb in. The rest of the lights are LED. I relocated the stock horn with an HD low tone ahead of the swingarm. It drowns out the meep some. At least it's wired for a future horn, which was my goal. I just used what I had. In place of the stock horn I mounted an analog volt gauge. Added a winshield bag, curved tag holder and USB port. Everything runs off an additional fuse block fired from a relay. Another relay for the horns. I did get the glasspack mod done too. The bike sounds amazing. It's loud enough for me but been playing with a 'trombone' set-up. When I cut off the out-put side of the glasspack I left a tab, bent it up, drilled a hole and welded a bolt to it to attach the pipe that slides in. Should work good. I also kept the baffles intact to install at some point in the future. I took a chance and bought some 48" curved stacks from fleabay. I was suprised, they're pretty decent I think. We'll see how long they last.
Doesn't seem like it was a lot of work, but I took my time...sometimes too meticulous, so lotsa hours. All wires are soldered except for the load connections to the fuseblock. I'll keep an eye on them.
First time attemting to attach a pic so be easy on me

Looks great; always loved those colors.   Love the garage too.  cooldude

Looks like a Saddleman Profiler seat.

And a Mustang on the rolling work stool.

Might want to check the bushings on the shocks. Mine were completely toast. Ended up relacing the shocks with progressive instead of replacing the bushings since I figure they'll be better than 24 year old ones and the bushing on the progressive are metal and wont wear out.

Yes sir. I knew I forgot to mention a few other things I did when I had it apart on the table. I think this bike was ridden and oil changed, that's it. I'm thankful it wasn't neglected to the weather at all. Three of the shock bushings were worn right through. I would like to replace these original shocks one day. I've read the '97 Standards were bad years for them. The rear fender had the dreaded sag in it too. I took some eighth inch x one and a quarter flat stock, about a foot long, drilled them and pressed in carriage bolts, then panel bonded with acorn nuts on the outside. Might have been overkill, but I had visions of the epoxy letting go years from now. That could be disastrous. I'ts solid. I cut the nut cages off as when this tire wears out it'll get a ct. Made a stainless bracket for the sissy bar stubs that I forgot to mention too. Now I can mount the bike a whole lot easier.

I appreciate your responses. You guys have some beautiful bikes. I'm really starting to admire the hard bags. My wife doesn't ride but very rarely so I guess I'll keep the semi-solo look....With OE leather bags.

You are correct on the seat, its a Saddlemen Profiler. It looks better than anything I tried on, but haven't  been on it long enough to discover the comfort level. I've heard it's not. But I like the heighth and position.
Funny.. that stool looks quality made like Mustang but it's not embossed. Wonder if I can make it fit the original pan Smiley

Yep Jess,  I'm super blessed to have been able to build a shop before I retired. No short-cuts taken in the process. It's not so big that I can't afford to heat it. I'ts my  main therapy device alongside riding a motorcycle, and riding season is limited here.
