Well, 100% cloud cover here in Friendsville, TN, so it is just getting dark, like at sunset.  I'm glad I didn't ride out to see it.  It looks like Texas and Arkansas had better luck, watching on TV.  How was it where you're at?

I'm out of the path by a few hundred miles. It looked like dusk and temp dropped 7° in ten minutes. Just a little eerie, but not much else here in central IL.

Big nothingburger here in Crossville, Tn. No darkness, just clouds. Event supposed to happen at 2:06 central.
They let school out here at 11:15 central and sent the kiddos home with some solar glasses. That'll teach 'em.

We're away from totality by 50 miles. Was able to see max eclipse through heavy clouds with no eye protection. Like above, it was like dusk. We were driving and the car automatically turned on headlights.

It got to about 90% here in KC, you could see it with Eclipse glasses. perfect weather for it (as opposed to 2017 when it was cloudy).

Clouds in and out, but just under 4 minutes of totality here in The Republic. It was awesome, in the literal sense of the word, inspiring awe...

Pics, of course, don't begin to do it justice, but...

And for the geeks, here's some graphs from my back yard weather station. Totality is on the right side of the graph:

Four minutes of darkness not a big deal. Kid Rock didn't see the sun for something like three Damm days.

Not much here in South Carolina.  Since we had a good view in 2017, I did not go out of my way to try and observe the event.  Instead I mowed the lawn on my Zero Turn mower and watched as it got a little darker as I mowed.

But it was a very, very nice and sunny (mostly of the time) day here.

Rain and  clouds till about and  hour  ago..
It just got  like dusk  here..
Nothing  like  in 2017

I was  burning   a  big pile  of  debris  and bailing twine..
There  was  no wind. Just  rain.
A  perfect burning  day.

The young across the street neighbors brought their young uns over to my front yard to watch. We had totality here in the Missouri Ozarks. The eclipse glasses the kids got from school were tryin to look thru a board! The ones I purchased from a major on line retailer worked so much better!  2funny And had enough to pass out to those 5 3 others and the single guy next door to me. BUT hadda take the Husband of the young couple to an E R for his foot. We did NOT have to put him down But while waiting in the E R Waiting room I'm looking at US 60 W in Moutain View Mo. and it looked like Chicago or New York or L A traffic there!  Lips Sealed But he knew Good back roads here bouts with practically no traffic at all!  cooldude His Wife told him Our L E Os here in town were directing traffic cuz out of towners THOUGHT going thru Willow Springs woukd save some time of the bumper to bumper traffic on Msin U S 60 West!  Undecided They was WRONG!   tickedoff LastI heard Still slow goin out there! I really HOPE all the local merchants made out like bandits with this eclipse!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

We have a local Astronomy Club (Midlands Astronomy Club or MAC for short) that I was once was an active member of.  But.....

Anyway, they posted a picture one of the members took (well its a collage of shots during the time of the eclipse) here in SC.   The person responsible is Wesley Munn.

You can see the sunspots (dark points on the suns surface).

He also has a video taken during the three hours of the eclipse this is pretty good.  If I can get a link I will post it here.

Sat on back porch and watch a partial.  It was according to Network, 37% eclipse.  Not sure it was but had glasses and watch a portion of the sun disappear.

Have seen several over a number of years.  The one back in the mid 60's was the best.  Total eclipse.  The critter were all acting crazy and lots of wavy lines on the ground.

Drove over near Mena, AK to watch the event. Best part was the brilliance of the diamond in the ring of fire and the two solar flares that were visible about 3 and 6 oclock just at max coverage. Thought I saw them but thought it was just a artifact in the welding goggle lens, but a local tv channel verified the flares. It was amazing the speed the daylight returned as the sun was uncovered....I think the dark spot moves at something like 1000 mph. My wife noticed the temp drop and the wind picking up......good trip and can't wait for the next one....I will only be 104 cooldude cooldude

The next total eclipse is August 23, 2044 so guess I'll wait for it. I'll be 106 that year...maybe.  Wink

You will be 106 that year, you just may not still be sucking wind.  I do hope that won't be the case, but I'll not place any bets on the still sucking wind thing.

Well I totally forgot about it as I went for a hardware run on the bike. When I got to town everybody was going gaga over this happening. Got my hardware and got out to the bike to load up and I just  remembered  Smiley that the GMax visor on my 3/4 helmet is just right to look at the sun thus it was at 25% at that time. At 90% 20 mins. later I was riding through a wooded area with my polarized shades on, now that was unique. "White Rabbit" by JA would have been a good soundtrack for those moments in time. 77 mi. later arrived home with a smile remembering the event.

We took an 800 mile round trip ride on the Valkyrie to Benton Illinois to go to my nephews wedding which was held outside at Twin Oaks Lodge during the eclipse. They had it timed to finish right at totality. It was a perfect weather day for viewing.

After watching the last total eclipse 2017, I didn't want to miss this one as the next is many years away. Weather forecasts were cloudy in many locations so I drove to El Dorado, Kansas Sunday night to have a choice of Missouri or Arkansas on E-Day. Weather looked good in both states Monday morning, but AR had much more traffic so I chose MO. Willow Springs was my target town, on the edge of totality, but only for 16 seconds! Driving just 15 miles to West Plains added over 3 minutes so that's where I parked.

It was even better than 2017 since it lasted significantly longer. And returning through Mark Twain National Forest and some of Route 66 made the trip even better.

Moments before.

Totality. I never realized that 100% totality is vastly better than even 99% until I drove to Nebraska to see the 2017 eclipse.

Wind in Western Kansas closed part of I-70 on Sunday, which is why I didn't ride.

My son was working in Texas and drove to Dallas. Being an engineer he loves to get technical and ran a data sheet. Serk may appreciate this.
