I ordered the shakes for my 1880's Gothic Debatable tower today. I'm replacing all the cedar on it. Got some trim work around the edge of the roof to do as well. Oh, and a couple pieces of tin to fabricate.

12 cartons...96 shingles/carton. 3 different patterns (fancy-ing this up just a bit). Pretty sure they are a thin cedar veneer over a solid gold substrate (based on cost).

Shipped in from Canada.

So, I've got the tools...

The Left Handed Fargle Snorker is ready to work

...and will shortly have the material.

That about does in my spring budget...

(sigh)

LOL  Try stainless steel nails for your siding nail gun (by the case) !!!   Shocked  Had to use those for the "Hardi" (cement fiber board) brand siding for this place.  All of it was this brand of stuff, trim, band boards, plank siding, shake patterns.  The blade for the skill saw was spendy too, at around $75.00 ea.  It's also a major PIA to work with... breathing the dust is hazardous too.  Watch out for splitting your product when nailing.  The cedar is purdy stuff and smells good when using it.  LOL  Wanna have some fun... buy some copper sheeting to fab your flashing material from, instead of tin.   Evil  Lookin' forward to seein' it completed.   cooldude

Daniel,
I put shingles like that on my 1895 Victorian home.  Some needed replacing.  I know what you mean about price!  Mine went on in 1990, so price now?
