I got all new vinyl siding, windows, gutters/covers and shutters many years ago.

The shutters have mild wood grain look (more grainy holds more dirt), and a dark park bench green (not lighter Kelly), to match the dark green roof shingles (everything else is white).

The shutters have been faded out for a long time (especially those in full sun all day); scrubbing is no help, and I've tried various waxes, cleaners, polishes, ceramic detail spray with little improvement.

I bought some Mother's Back to Black for my Promaster van because the black plastic and rubber fenders, grille, wheel wells, side padding, door handles, and mirrors are also fading.  It's a watery creamy goop and has no black in it.  But it restored the color very nicely today (rub in good, polish with a dry microfiber, done).

So on a hunch, I tried this goop on my shutters, and they came back to like new (maybe better, not high gloss but semi gloss to satin).  Really perked up the house nicely.  So it may be called Back to Black, but it is some kind of polymer sealant color restorer.  So if you have some vinyl, plastic, yada that is badly faded, give this stuff a try.

Have used Black to Black on several items, it does seem to restore the item to very close to original colors.   But, it is not a permanent fix.   Depending on how the item is subjected to direct sunlight, will determine how long the finish lasts.

With continuous direct sunlight, my experience is it lasts about three months.   Longer if the items isn't in direct sunlight all the time (during the day).  It's a good product but not an end all.

Probably.  As with anything, the trick is to pick a spot on the bottom or out of sight to experiment on first.

For cracks, seams, edges or hard to reach spots, use an old soft tooth brush.

They look nice.  cooldude

If you’re ever looking to change color or just repaint, I have to recommend Krylon paint and primer. The stuff is good. Take them down, wash with dish soap and warm water, rinse with cool and let them dry out of the sun. A good first coat followed by a nice finish coat. I really like their gloss or semi gloss.

All that being said, new vinyl shutters aren’t all that expensive and are just typically 2 or 4 screws with a beauty plug over the screw head.

yah, time to powerwash my house, clean the mold off the vinyl eastrophes and vinyl siding, and replace my 32 year old white shutters around windows, are faded yellow and ugly.  Not worth the hastle to take off and attempt to get them white again.
