Yesterday, Gwen was having problems with endurance - walk 10 feet, take 10 minutes to recover. About 1700 I took her over to KU Med Emergency , where they eventually found she had blood clots in her lungs, and that she would be staying through Thursday, maybe Friday. At 2AM this morning she had some sort of procedure - I'll find out the details when I talk to her in person. So that's where I'll be for a while.

Good job getting her in the hospital Scott.
I hate those places, but sometimes you must go to save your life.
I hope it goes well for her.

Well - as it turns out - we got her there just in time - a 'fainting event' may well have been the last breath she would take.
Procedure done at 2AM this morning - remove the biggest clots by going up the leg and eventually into the lungs to pull them out. When I got there this morning, she was on heparin to break down the rest, she will be on Eliquiss for the next 3-6 months. She was already looking better, but her heart rate is still fast - heart trying to pump blood past the clots. Local friends came by this afternoon , cheered her up some.
I'm home getting dinner and do some cleaning up of the kitchen before going back until ~ 10 PM. I have a Chiro appointment tomorrow morning and our friends will take me over to collect the car in the shop. Tomorrow evening I have an orchestra concert (playing in). She will be released on Friday in all likelyhood.

Prayers for your wife and you. My wife went through a similar event after an ankle injury caused clots. When she is on the eloquis, be extra careful to avoid injury. That stuff can lead to profuse bleeding. However, it is apparently best for dissolving the clots.

Even better news - she was discharged this afternoon at 1400 (close enough). it's going to be a couple months before her body takes care of the remaining clots, and I'll probably taking her and her wheelchair just about everywhere for awhile, due to shortness of breath for now.
My sister is coming up tomorrow for a week or 2 to help get things going again.

It sounds like they've got a handle on it. We went through the same experience a few years ago. Good organization. Scary experience. It feels good when it is over. I'm glad they caught it in time.
