Except for old jalopies and wrecks, I think annual State safety inspections are all about revenue and little about safety. What I've seen in my state is (mostly) a quick look around and pencil whipping the checklist, and collecting the fee.
Not only was VA the first State I ever lived in that charged personal property taxes on all vehicles, forever..... it's the first State I ever lived in that had annual safety inspections.
It's all a racket as far as I'm concerned.
What is needed for safety on the roads today is better drivers, not better vehicles.
Two times today (on my bike), in broad daylight, I had an SUV just decide to change lanes right into me. Ever heard of checking your mirrors or looking where you are going, you assholes? The dual headlights on my Interstate are always on. I'm not big on using the horn), but I'd really like to use my .380 on some tires ('course, then I'd be the felon).
Jess on Phatt Ghurl I had the L E D tail light mod done and wearing a flourescent green jacket a white helmet and 3 Flags fluttering on the trunk of my I/S and the 4 ways on during a P G R Escort More than one person in a cage has told me these time honored words-Sorry dude didn't see ya!

Had a guy try to blend his creww cab pickup into my I/S and I was locked into the right lane as he came up the ramp. My air horn got his attention Before both our days-mine would've been worse than his-turned to chit cuz he WAS NOT paying attention to the Driving! I REFUSE to quit RIDING because so many people are inexcusably STUPID! Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances! RIDE SAFE.
