Took a little jaunt further into Iowa...mostly north central. Showed Nancy where most of the family members were buried, brought back a lot of memories of time & places spent as a youth. Drove through the small town of Riceville, IA...strictly a farming community. Was able to pick out the old church attended, now barely standing. Also spotted the houses where various aunts & uncles lived. Things do change over 70+ years. As we meandered east we stopped to see Ft. Atkinson where Nancy's mother was born. It was closed so couldn't go inside but she was actually born in the fort and Nanners was hoping to walk the same ground as her mother.
I had another episode with two of my GPS units, the one in the car and a Garmin I bought last year. I quit trying to use the car unit, it can't find anything even when sitting in the parking lot of the destination. The Garmin wasn't any better even after going through an update. Both totally useless to me but the one in my nearly 10 yr. old android cell phone works perfect. After numerous entries, the Garmin didn't find any but one...which I entered as a test, not a destination. I finally laid it on the ground in front of the trailer tire and wished it a happy demise as we drove away from the hotel this morning. I usually won't try something more than 2-3 dozen times, if it doesn't work I get rid of the irritation regardless of what I have invested.
