Looks like an epic trip! Is it going to be a hammer down ride getting out there and or coming back? Any thoughts on the number of miles per day on the average? Any camping or all hotel overnights? Wish I was up for it, even part of it, but I wouldn’t even know how to budget for a trip like that. Have fun!
My plan is to be hammer down for the first couple of days.
Once I get into Iowa the plan is to stay on US routes and avoid Interstates as much as possible.
Very Ambitious plan, Mark, ive done most of that ride. Stayed over night in a tent among the rocks on a cliff at Big Sur - amazing!
going by my diminished memory, seems that certain areas force YOU to HWY 101. I only went south as far as Dana Point. Loved that trip!!!!

I have 39 days to git-er done, so I feel pretty good about my chances.
The Army taught me that I don't like sleeping in a tent or on the ground.
So, my plan is to stay in a hotel/motel every night.
My standards for a room just to sleep for a few hours aren't tremendously high so I'm hoping to keep costs down as much as possible.
Still, it would be nice to have someone to split the cost of at least some of the rooms.
